PDC Chairman Eddie Hearn has exclusively revealed to Odds Now that the World Series will travel to Abu Dhabi for the first time.
Speaking at the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel ahead of a trio of boxing super fights, Hearn appeared to confirm the introduction of the Abu Dhabi Darts Masters – five weeks after the PDC announced that darts’ top stars will travel to Saudi Arabia for the first time.
The two tournaments will complete a hat-trick of World Series events in the Middle East, following the Bahrain Darts Masters which was first staged in 2023.
Speaking exclusively to Odds Now, Hearn said: “There is a darts event coming up in Saudi Arabia in January [for] the first time, the World Series.
“We’ll see how that goes. Of course, it’s a new territory for darts."
Then announcing the introduction of the Abu Dhabi tournament, Hearn added: “It’s actually slotted in on kind of like a Middle East swing; Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.
“I think they’re going to love the event, and I think there’ll be a continued investment for darts in the Middle East.
“If there’s additional investment from the Middle East, it’s great for the sport.”
The World Series of Darts began in 2013 with the primary aim to grow the sport internationally.
As well as the Middle East, the sport’s biggest stars have travelled to North America, Oceania, Far East Asia and various countries across Europe.
The US Darts Masters was introduced in 2017, and Hearn highlighted the importance of the American market in the PDC's short-term development aims.
He said: “The global reach of darts is phenomenal right now and I think it hasn’t even reached anywhere near its potential globally.
“I think the US is going to be a massive market for us in 2026.
“Every one of those markets outside of the UK is just getting started.”
The date for the Abu Dhabi Darts Masters is yet to be announced, with the Bahrain Darts Masters commencing on January 15th followed by the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters starting on January 19th.
