Dennis McCann vs Brad Strand: Betting Odds & Prediction

Maidstone super-bantamweight Dennis McCann looks to return to winning ways against Liverpool's Brad Strand on Saturday evening.

The pair face-off on the 'Magnificent Seven' card promoted by Frank Warren at Birmingham's Resorts World Arena.

Both fighters are undefeated heading into the ten-round clash.

Tale of the Tape

McCann (14-0-1, 8KOs) enters the night on the back of a majority-decision draw versus Ionut Baluta in August. The bout was halted in the ninth-round after an accidental headclash opened a cut on the forehead of McCann, who looked to be feeling the pace in the rounds prior to the stoppage.

The 23-year-old had won all 14 of his fights prior to the meeting with Baluta, amassing a 57% knockout ratio in the process.

Strand is also undefeated and has won all eleven of his professional contests so far. The Liverpudlian has also endured the full ten-round distance with a unanimous decision win over Joshua John in his last outing. The furthest McCann has endured was the nine rounds against Baluta last time out. Strand has only secured three wins inside the distance so far, carrying a 27% knockout ratio.

Both fighters are ranked in the WBO's top 15 at super-bantamweight. McCann enters the bout in eleventh, while Strand sits in twelfth.

Prediction

McCann is no doubt the more experienced professional of the two. Not only has he fought at a higher level, but he's also endured more rounds (77) than Strand (54). The latter is unlikely to fight at as fast a pace as Baluta in August, but also presents a toughter fight for McCann on a technical level.

McCann has regularly displayed explosive power which saw him secure impressive victories over the likes of James Beech Jnr and Joe Ham, but has sometimes been accused of coasting through rounds against inferior opposition.

Strand, a four-time national amateur champion, does not fall into that category and so McCann can ill afford to step off the gas for periods throughout the ten rounds if he is to hand the Liverpudlian his first pro defeat.

OddsNow's Pick: McCann to win by decision/technical decision (11/10 @ Ladbrokes)
