2026 Premier League Darts – Terry Foord’s Week 9 analysis

Manchester is always a big night for Luke Littler, and arguably the one he wants most. He won here two years ago, beating Gerwyn Price 6-3 in the final, but fell short last year when Luke Humphries edged him out 6-4 in the semi-finals, despite averaging under 94.

That context matters because expectation can sometimes work against a player. The added pressure of performing in front of a home crowd can disrupt rhythm, even for someone as composed as Littler.

He faces Gian van Veen in the quarter-finals — a player still working his way back from injury. Van Veen looked well below his best last week, posting a 91 average, and while he may improve with more match practice, this is a very tough draw.

In the lower half, Jonny Clayton meets Josh Rock again. Rock finally got off the mark last week with a 6-3 win over Clayton in a scrappy match where both players averaged under 90. That could give Rock confidence, but consistency remains a concern.

The top half of the draw is stacked. Michael van Gerwen takes on Stephen Bunting and should be expected to progress. Bunting’s form has dipped since his Night Four win, with just one victory in the last five weeks.

Gerwyn Price vs Luke Humphries is arguably the tie of the round. Price continues to perform at a high level but has repeatedly run into a red-hot Littler. Humphries remains incredibly consistent, but Price has had the edge in their recent meetings.

Terry Foord’s best bets for the 2026 Premier League Darts Night 9

A semi-final lineup of Van Gerwen vs Price and Littler vs Clayton looks the most likely outcome. Littler should have too much for whoever comes through the bottom section, meaning another final appearance in Manchester is highly probable.

In the top half, Price vs Van Gerwen would be a blockbuster. Given Price has won their last three meetings, he gets the nod again and represents solid each-way value at 7/1.

In the match markets, Littler to beat Van Veen while also landing the most 180s and the highest checkout stands out. Van Veen didn’t look at full sharpness last week, and Littler’s scoring power should dominate.

For a small speculative angle, Price hitting a nine-darter is worth a look. Remarkably, he’s done so in Manchester in each of the last two years, which makes the 25/1 just about backable. You can also pair that with a 170 check out on the night for added upside if Littler catches fire (tiny stakes).

Bet Summary & Staking Plan:

2pts – Luke Littler to beat Van Veen, most 180s & highest checkout – 6/4 (Sky Bet)

1pt e/w – Gerwyn Price to win night 9 – 7/1 (Sky Bet)

0.25pts – Gerwyn Price to hit a 9-darter on the night – 25/1 (PricedUp)

0.25pts – A 9-darter and 170 checkout on the night – 25/1 (Sky Bet)
