Arsenal take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday evening, with the Gunners aiming to theoretically keep the Premier League title race alive for a few more days.
Adam Drury (@Adam_Drury1) picks out 6/5 and 20/1 bet builders for the all-London clash.
We’re going to have Arsenal to claim three points in both bet builders here.
The Gunners are perhaps in their best form of the season, winning five of their last seven matches and only dropping points on that run in games that took place within three days of matches against Real Madrid.
With no game scheduled this weekend, Mikel Arteta’s side can put all of their energy into this clash and make Liverpool work to secure the title on their own terms this weekend.
This bet is just as much about Crystal Palace, though, who have conceded five goals in both of their last two away games at Manchester City and Newcastle.
With Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa much more of a priority than this, Oliver Glasner has accepted he may need to make some changes to his XI, and this feels like one game they could do without.
For a player who shoots in virtually every game, we’re surprised to see Mateta available at 7/20 for one shot and 6/4 for two.
The striker has had at least one effort in 25 straight Premier League matches and has taken two or more in 17 of them.
That sequence also includes multiple efforts in six of his last seven on the road and four in the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park in December.
We need him to have just one for the shorter price and two for the 20/1 shot.
If Hughes starts, backing him to make multiple tackles should be safe.
The midfielder has made two or more tackles on 12 of the last 13 occasions that he has played over 45 minutes, including making three and four in his last two outings.
That run includes three against Arsenal at Selhurst Park in December and at least three in four of his last five away games.
One of the snappiest players in the league, he is someone we’re happy to be with.
On a similar theme, we’re taking Hughes to be carded for the long shot.
The 29-year-old has picked up 12 yellow cards in 34 appearances this season, including four in his last 10 outings.
That run includes yellows away at Manchester United, Fulham and Newcastle, while he has committed three or more fouls in five of his last eight league games.
He ranks second in the division for fouls per game, so this should have a good chance.
1pt – Arsenal to win, Mateta 1+ shot, Hughes 2+ tackles - 6/5 (Bet365)
0.5pts – Arsenal to win, Mateta 2+ shots, Hughes 3+ tackles, Hughes to be carded - 20/1 (Bet365)
