Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest preview and betting tips – September 13th 2025

Nottingham Forest begin life under new head coach Ange Postecoglou with a daunting trip to Arsenal for a 12:30 pm BST kick-off at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

The sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo by Forest owner Evangelis Marinakis raised eyebrows this week, but all criticism will be silenced if Postecoglou can get a result against Mikel Arteta's side.

Steve Day picks out 6/5 and 11/2 bets for the baptism of fire for Postecoglou.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest betting tips – September 13th 2025

Gunners set to shoot to victory

It's difficult to think of a much tougher game for Postecoglou to begin his reign as Nottingham Forest gaffer. The former Spurs man didn't exactly enjoy the best record against Tottenham's bitter rivals during his time with the club, having lost 3 and drawn 1 of the four North London derby matches.

Arsenal are priced as 2/5 favourites to win the game with Ladbrokes. The Gunners have only lost 2 of their last 23 home league matches. The club have also won their last 6 home league encounters with Forest. In fact, you need to go back to 11th March 1989 to find the last time Forest won at Arsenal.

However, the price of an Arsenal win on its own is far too short to tempt me. I am liking the look of throwing in an over 2.5 goals scored selection, too. Postecoglou's Spurs side saw over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of their 4 matches with Arsenal during his tenure at the club. Forest have seen over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of their last 4 matches with Arteta's men.

Backing Arsenal to win and over 2.5 goals scored at 1.39/1 with Bet365 is still a little on the short side, but it's worth putting money behind it. It's certainly worth considering both of those outcomes for a bet builder for the game.

Tricky Trees to come unrooted?

It feels like this could be a long 90 minutes for Forest if they don't get their house in order from the first whistle. I do think that Postecoglou will set them up to get into Arsenal and try to disrupt them as much as possible.

Darren England has been appointed referee for the game, and he's averaging 4.5 cards per game. I think with Nottingham Forest having received 3 cards in their previous away game, we could see some yellows dished out for the visiting team here.

A few Forest players stand out in the market to receive a card. Morgan Gibbs-White and Ryan Yates led their disciplinary table last season, and they are both priced at 47/20 with 10Bet to receive a card here. Elliot Anderson is also a shout at 18/5 with BetVictor. He could well be feeling his legs after international duty and be prone to a mis-timed challenge in the middle of the park.

Viktor Gyokores and Declan Rice shots

The likely outcome for this game is that we're going to see Arsenal dominance over a Forest side that is transitioning under a new manager. I certainly feel that makes it worth backing some Arsenal players for the shots market.

Two players that stand out for me are Viktor Gyokores and Declan Rice. I can see Gyokores being heavily involved in Arsenal's play in the final third, and backing him at over 1.5 shots on target at 6.4 with Bet365 is tempting.

In a situation where Forest sit deep and restrict the space in the final third, it could be worth backing Rice to get over 0.5 shots on target at 33/20 with Virgin Bet. If you're a Forest fan and looking for some consolation, then Gibbs-White is priced at 9/5 with BetMGM to get over 0.5 shots on target.

Steve Day's recommended bets for Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest

3pts – Arsenal to win and total goals scored over 2.5 @ 1.39/1 (Bet365)

1pt – Declan Rice to have 1+ shot on target @ 33/20 (Virgin Bet)

0.5pts - Gibbs-White to receive a card @ 47/20 (10Bet)
