Bournemouth vs Luton Town: Betting Odds and Prediction
Bournemouth vs Luton Town: Betting Odds and Prediction

Luton Town head to Bournemouth on Wednesday in search of three points to remain within touching distance of Premier League safety.

Kick-off is set for 7:30pm local time at the Vitality Stadium.

Recent Form

Bournemouth:

The Cherries' Premier League status is all but secure as they find themselves in 13th position and eleven points clear of the relegation places. Andoni Iraola's side fought back from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 home draw versus relegation-bound Sheffield United on Saturday.

Bournemouth's home form will bring Luton some hope heading into the fixture, however. The home side have won just one of their last five home matches, and have averaged only 1.08 points per match at the Vitality this season (W3, D5, L5). They also have a negative goal difference at home, having scored 14 whilst conceding 20.

Despite averaging an xG of 1.47 goals per home game, they've only managed to score an average of 1.08 in their 13 matches on home soil. They've also averaged an xGA of 1.52 whilst conceding 1.54 goals per game at home.

There have been over 2.5 goals in 54% of matches at the Vitality Stadium so far this season.

Luton Town:

Of the three promoted sides from the start of the season, Luton have appeared the most likely to enjoy a second successive season in England's top-flight. Nevertheless, the Hatters still find themselves 18th, three points off 17th having played a game less.

Their away form doesn't make for positive reading, however. Not only have they averaged just 0.77 points per match on the road (W2, D4, L7), they have also conceded 30 goals while scoring just 17. Luton have won just one of their last five away outings, though they have managed three draws within that period.

The away side are exceeding their expected goal output, however. Despite averaging an xG of less than a goal a game (0.94), they've scored an average of 1.31 on the road so far. It's at the other end of the pitch where most of their troubles lie. An xGA of 1.98 compares with 2.31 goals conceded in away matches.

Luton's away matches have averaged 3.62 goals in total, with over 3.5 goals scored in 54% of their games on the road.

Prediction

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has already bagged 14 league goals this season, averaging 2.28 shots per 90 minutes in the process. The Englishman also boasts a shooting accuracy of 49.18% and will surely be licking his lips at the sight of Luton on Wednesday.

The Hatters' poor away record will be compounded further by the loss of key defenders Amari'i Bell, Mads Andersen and Dan Potts, who are all out through injury. This, along with the average goals per game of both sides noted above, points to a high-scoring game.

OddsNow's Pick: Over 3.5 goals to be scored (6/5 @ PaddyPower); Dominic Solanke to score anytime (evens @ bet365)
