Brentford take on Manchester United at the Gtech Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, with kick-off at 12:30pm.
Odds Now's football tipster Terry Foord shares his insights ahead of the big game and picks out his best bets.
Manchester United come into this match on the back of just their second win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford last weekend.
Both sides finished the game with 10 men, after Robert Sánchez was sent off for Chelsea in the 5th minute and Casemiro received his marching orders for United in stoppage time of the first half.
Ruben Amorim’s United looked a much-improved outfit compared to recent weeks, but it’s hard to gauge their true progress given their opponents were forced to completely change their approach after going down to 10 men so early.
Away from home, United are still searching for a first win, having drawn 1-1 with Fulham and suffered a heavy 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City. They also crashed out of the League Cup in embarrassing fashion, losing to League Two side Grimsby on the road.
Brentford, meanwhile, look to be in trouble this season. Sitting just a point above the bottom three, the Bees have managed only one win from their opening five matches and have already shipped 10 goals in that run.
Keith Andrews’ side know their home form will be vital if they are to avoid the drop. A win over struggling Aston Villa and a spirited 2-2 draw with Chelsea show signs of fight, and I do just about feel they have enough to stay up this season. Home form will be hugely important for the Bees, though.
Brentford won the most recent meeting at the Gtech, edging Manchester United 4-3 in a thrilling end-to-end Premier League clash at the back end of last season.
Overall, United have taken three of the last five encounters, with a draw in between. However, Brentford’s home record in this fixture is strong — two wins and a draw from the last three — and that will give them confidence heading into this one.
This looks like a tricky match to call. Manchester United should take confidence from their win over Chelsea, but it’s worth remembering that much of their success came after Chelsea were reduced to 10 men so early on.
My main bet is Both Teams to Score. The odds aren’t fantastic, but Brentford have found the net in every game so far and have kept just one clean sheet — against a goal-shy Aston Villa.
For a Bet Builder, I’m adding Bryan Mbeumo to score on his return to his former club, along with Brentford to win at least four corners. The Bees are always a stronger side at home and consistently rack up a fair share of corners in front of their own fans.
3.25pts – Both teams to score – 8/13 (William Hill)
1pt – Manchester United to win and BTTS – 13/5 (Bet365)
0.5pt – Bet Builder Bryan Mbuemo to score, both teams to score and Brentford over 3 corners – 9/2 (Bet365)
Total staked - 4.75pts
