Back this 2/1 Brentford vs Tottenham single
Back this 2/1 Brentford vs Tottenham single

Ange Postecoglou's job hangs on a knife-edge ahead of Tottenham's visit to Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Can Spurs stop the rot or will the Bees condemn them to a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat?

The hosts' form has been up and down recently but Thomas Frank will have been grateful to see his side return to winning ways at Crystal Palace last week.

Brentford were winless in three prior to kick-off at Selhurst Park but secured their second win away from home in a row, despite failing to win any of their first nine.

Sunday sees a return to the Gtech Community Stadium, where they boast the fifth-best home record in the league, even though they have not won any of their last four on home turf.

Given the form of their opponents, they'll be confident of changing that this weekend.

Spurs are in freefall, having lost eight of their last 10 in the league and suffered four consecutive defeats on the spin.

The latest was a damning loss to relegation-bound Leicester, who came from behind to secure a 2-1 win in north London.

Manager Ange Postecoglou appears to be edging ever closer to the exit door, with an upcoming Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool perhaps his only saving grace.

Injuries haven't helped but Spurs' recent results are akin to a side battling relegation, despite many optimistic shouts regarding their top four chances at the start of the season.

Brentford's frenetic home outings

After backing Spurs to perform well last week, I won't be making the same mistake again this time around.

Brentford may have dipped at home recently and have now suffered three losses at the Gtech, but all of those came against sides currently occupying the league's top three places.

The defeats to Liverpool and Nottingham Forest mark the only times they've failed to score at home this term and they welcome a Spurs side which has conceded two goals in each of their last five.

Putting all of this together, backing the home win certainly looks the sensible pick, but given the Bees' defensive record, I'm also going to go for both teams to score.

Frank's men are without a clean sheet in any of their last 13 matches and haven't kept one at all in home fixtures so far.
