Brighton vs Chelsea: Betting Odds & Prediction
Brighton vs Chelsea: Betting Odds & Prediction

Chelsea continue to hunt a spot in Europe next season when they travel to mid-table Brighton on Wednesday evening.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last four and have recorded three consecutive victories heading into the fixture. Kick-off is set for 7:45pm UK time at the Amex.

Recent Form

Brighton & Hove Albion

Roberto De Zerbi's side have picked up four points from their last six after enduring a difficult second half of the campaign. Now finding themselves in tenth, a win would leave them only one point behind ninth-place West Ham heading into the final weekend of the season.

Wins have been hard to come by in recent weeks for the Seagulls. With only one in their last five, Brighton have failed to match their efforts from last season, when they record a sixth-place finish in the Premier League.

Their home form has been much better than their record in away fixtures, though, with only seven sides bettering the 1.76 points Brighton have averaged in home matches. They have also won two of their last five, including an impressive 1-0 win over Aston Villa ten days ago.

However, despite averaging 1.5 goals scored overall this term, De Zerbi's men have managed to net just three in their last six home and away. They've also kept just one clean sheet during that period, making for ominous reading as they prepare to welcome a Chelsea side in free-scoring form.

Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino's men finally look to have found their stride as the season's end draws closer. Chelsea have won their last three in the league, scoring ten goals in the process. After meandering in the bottom-half of the table for much of the season, the Blues are now in seventh and are in a strong position to secure a place in European competition next term.

Though only one have ended in victory - that being a 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest last weekend - Chelsea have tasted defeat just once in their last five on the road. Despite the negativity surrounding their performance this season, only six sides have bettered the 1.28 points they've averaged in away fixtures so far.

Four of their last five away matches have seen Pochettino's men net at least two goals. However, they've also failed to record a clean sheet during that period. In fact, Chelsea have managed just two clean sheets on the road in total this term.

Prediction

Though Chelsea haven't put many away wins together of late, they no doubt enter this one as the in-form side. Unlike Brighton, they still have a target to hit between now and the end of the season as they look to secure European football next season.

OddsNow back the visitors to record a fourth successive win at the Amex on Wednesday evening.
