Brugge play host to Aston Villa in the Champions League knockouts on Tuesday evening, five months after picking up a 1-0 against the English club in the competition's League Phase.

Odds Now tipster Brad Walker (@brad_TWalker) has run his eyes over the fixture and picked out two betting tips to be enjoyed.

Brugge vs Aston Villa analysis - English club return with increased attacking firepower

Brugge were one of several pleasant surprises from the League Phase, finishing 24th and securing a spot among the play-off places in the process. A tough draw against last season's Europa League winners looked to end any hopes of progressing to the knockouts, yet Nicky Hayen's men defied the odds to win 5-2 on aggregate.

Such form means the Belgians cannot be underestimated again in this competition, particularly given their 1-0 win over Aston Villa back in November. The winning goal came in bizarre circumstances, but the hosts were more than worthy of the three points against a toothless Villa side that night.

Much has changed in the English club's attacking ranks since, though. Loan acquisitions of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford has significantly strengthened their forward options. Spain's Asensio has been particularly impressive, scoring four goals across his first five appearances in claret and blue.

Aston Villa to win & BTTS - 4/1

Brugge have only lost once at home in the Champions League this season, falling on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in September.

They've since beaten Villa, Sporting Lisbon and Atalanta at the Jan Breydel Stadium, while also holding Juventus to a 0-0 draw.

The Belgians have also kept two clean sheets across their five home matches, but face a Villa side which is very different to the one they played in November.

Unai Emery's men have recruited well in forward areas in the January window, losing only twice this calendar year.

Villa have also scored in all but one of their games in 2025 and have scored at least two in five of their last eight matches.

Injuries have hampered them at the back though. The 2-0 win over Cardiff on Friday was their first clean sheet in 11.

Brugge have also found the net in eight of their 10 matches in Europe this term, so the away win with both teams scoring at 4/1 looks incredibly appealing.
