We’ve enjoyed the festive period but before we turn the page on the year, there are still a few attractive Premier League fixtures to come on Tuesday 30th December.
Here, Odds Now's football tipster Terry Foord takes a closer look at Chelsea vs Bournemouth (19:30pm) at Stamford Bridge and outlines his best betting angles.
Chelsea took a first-half lead in their last match at Stamford Bridge, only to be pegged back and beaten 2–1 by Aston Villa. Villa have shown a real knack this season for coming from behind and scoring late winners, and this time the Blues were on the wrong end of it.
Despite that setback, Enzo Maresca's men remain in a solid position in the league, sitting fifth after 18 games. However, they will be acutely aware that they are starting to fall behind fourth-placed Liverpool. Coming into this one, the West Londoners are three points behind the Reds, though they do still boast a superior goal difference.
Chelsea's home form has been mixed this season. They’ve recorded four wins from nine matches, alongside three defeats, leaving them thirteenth in the home form table. That said, there are signs of improvement. Two of those four wins have come in their last four outings, and they’ve conceded just three goals across that same period.
Bournemouth arrive after a bruising 4–1 defeat away to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. That result leaves them winless in their last eight Premier League matches, home and away. Away from home in particular, the Cherries have struggled badly, conceding a huge 23 goals across their last eight away fixtures.
Andoni Iraola has done a commendable job since taking charge, but there will inevitably be growing pressure after such a prolonged run without a win. Bournemouth now sit 15th in the table and are far from safe. With teams around them set to face each other in upcoming fixtures, the picture at the bottom can change very quickly.
Chelsea are unbeaten in the last eight meetings between these sides, although four of those have ended in draws – including the most recent clash just over three weeks ago at the Vitality Stadium.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have won two and drawn one of the last three against Bournemouth and appear to be on a much more positive trajectory in terms of form.
Goal trends have been mixed in this fixture. Two of the last four meetings have gone over 2.5 goals, with the other two finishing under. That pattern reflects a broader trend: tighter, lower-scoring games at Bournemouth, but more open encounters at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea look well placed here. It feels like an ideal fixture after a slight dip in form, especially against a Bournemouth side that are conceding heavily away from home.
That said, Bournemouth have scored in three of their last four visits to Stamford Bridge and have netted fourteen goals in eight away matches this season, so I wouldn’t rule them out getting on the scoresheet.
I’ll roll that angle into a Bet Builder alongside shots on target for the in-form duo of Joao Pedro and Antoine Semenyo. Pedro has recorded three shots on target across his last two matches, while Semenyo has managed at least one in each of his last five appearances, including four in his most recent outing.
3.5pts – Chelsea to win – 4/7 (Bet365)
1pt – Chelsea to win, both teams to score, Joao Pedro & Antoine Semenyo both to get 1+ shot on target – 5/1 (Bet365)
Total Staked: 4.5pts
