Super Sunday’s headline clash in the Premier League at 4:30pm BST sees Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. With Arsenal playing on Saturday, City will either have this as a chance to cut the gap or potentially be 12 points back.
Our expert football tipster, Terry Foord, considers the stats and form for this match from the English top flight and provides his best bets for the game.
Chelsea come into this game in poor form, having lost back-to-back league matches after the 3-0 loss away to Everton, making it three defeats in their last four, and winning just once in their previous six. The early bounce under Liam Rosenior has faded, and performances now need to improve quickly.
They currently sit sixth, but with Brentford and Everton just two points behind, European qualification is far from secure. Over the last six matches, Chelsea rank 17th in the form table — a sharp drop-off from their earlier momentum.
That makes this a dangerous time to face Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side are nine points behind Arsenal with a game in hand, and this fixture could prove pivotal. Wins here and against Arsenal next week could dramatically shift the title picture.
City’s form is strong. They are unbeaten in the league since January, with four wins and two draws in their last six. Add in their EFL Cup success and FA Cup progression, and they still have plenty to play for despite their Champions League exit.
Chelsea’s recent record against City is poor. They haven’t beaten them since the 2021 Champions League final, with City winning nine of the last twelve meetings.
At Stamford Bridge, City have won three and drawn one of the last four. Interestingly, goals have been relatively limited in this fixture, with over 2.5 goals landing in just three of the last 10 league meetings and only once in the last 5 at Stamford Bridge.
I’m firmly with Manchester City here. Their dominance in this fixture, combined with current form, makes them the standout pick.
Erling Haaland returning to scoring form — including a hat-trick against Liverpool in the FA Cup — only strengthens that view. If City click offensively, Chelsea could struggle.
In the bet builder, Antoine Semenyo appeals for a shot on target, having landed one in four of his last five matches. Chelsea’s discipline is also worth targeting — 71 yellow cards and seven reds this season, averaging around two cards per game at home.
Finally, Robert Sánchez is likely to be busy. He’s made 3+ saves in his last four matches, and against this City attack, that trend could continue.
3pts – Manchester City to win – 23/20 (Bet365)
1pts – Manchester City to win, Antoine Semenyo 1+ shot on target, Chelsea 2+ cards & Robert Sánchez 3+ saves – 5/1 (Bet365)
Total staked - 4pts
