Scotland head to Denmark on Friday night in a 7:45 pm BST kick-off for their first World Cup 2026 qualifier.
Adam Drury picks out 6/4 and 11/2 picks for the encounter in Copenhagen, where the hosts should fancy their chances of getting their campaign off to a winning start.
Denmark are heavily odds-on favourites for this game, and I will happily back them for a double chance at the shorter price and to win as part of the long shot.
The Danes have only been beaten by Spain in four home matches since Brian Riemer took charge, with that their only home loss in 14 matches overall – dating back to June 2022, when they lost to Croatia.
That run includes 10 wins from their last 11 on home soil, including over Portugal, Serbia and Switzerland.
Scotland have been good away from home, winning their last three, but they came against Liechtenstein, Greece and Poland sides worse than this Denmark team.
Prior to that, they were five without a win on the road, featuring defeats in Spain, Germany, Portugal and Croatia.
Victory here would take some effort, and I fancy they are more likely to fall on the wrong side of the result.
Hojbjerg has had a very shot-heavy start to the season, and backing him to continue that form against a Scotland side that will be happy to contain makes plenty of sense.
The midfielder has taken at least two shots in all of his three Ligue 1 matches for Marseille, including a goal in the 5-2 rout of Paris FC a couple of weeks ago.
The former Tottenham man also averaged 1.8 shots per game at Euro 2024 and 1.2 shots per game in the Nations League campaign against Serbia, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.
A couple of efforts against Steve Clarke's side are certainly not beyond him – and I'll bump it up to over 2.5 shots for the long shot.
1pt - Denmark or draw and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to have 2+ shots - 6/4 (Sky Bet)
0.5pts - Denmark to win and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to have 3+ shots - 11/2 (Sky Bet)
