OddsNow's Betting Preview - Switzerland vs Germany

Team News

Switzerland continue to be without midfielder Denis Zakaria and winger Steven Zuber through injury. Forward Breel Embolo has came off the bench in the Swiss' two matches at EURO 2024 so far and managar Murat Yakin may be tempted to start the Monaco striker in this one.

Germany, meanwhile, have no injury concerns ahead of their third group stage outing.

The State of Play

Switzerland's place in the knockout stages is all but confirmed after taking four points from a possible six so far. Swiss icon Xherdan Shaqiri produced yet another tournament stunner to equalise against Scotland on Wednesday after falling behind early on. Their positive form so far means the final match stands as a free hit for Yakin's men in Group A.

Germany's form has been even more impressive. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the squad ahead of the tournament, Julian Nagelsmann's men have hit the ground running with two victories in as many matches in front of their home fans. Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has particularly shined, boasting two goals to his name already in his first ever international tournament.

Analysis and Best Bets for Switzerland vs Germany

In a Group A frought with banana skins, tournament hosts Germany have hardly put a wrong so far. A 5-1 hammering of Scotland on the opening night was followed by a 2-0 ousting of Hungary on Wednesday, thus securing Nagelsmann's men a spot in the knockout stages with a game to spare.

While much of the attention has been on the German attack, the hosts have equally excelled in defensive quarters, averaging just 0.58 expected goals against (xGA) so far.

Switzerland, meanwhile, have been dominant in possession so far this tournament but are likely to spend large spells of this one without the ball due to the guile and knowhow of the German midfield crop.

While the Swiss' efforts have been commendable thus far, we expect them to struggle in Frankfurt against the now joint-tournament favourites.

OddsNow's Best Bet - Germany to win 'to nil' @ 2/1 (General)

OddsNow's Betting Preview - Scotland vs Hungary

Team News

Scotland defender Kieran Tierney's tournament is over after suffering a heartbreaking injury in their 1-1 draw with Switzerland. Scott McKenna replaced Tierney on Wednesday and looks most likely to start their final group match this weekend.

Steve Clarke will also have centre-back Ryan Porteous available for selection again after the 25-year-old served a suspension for the red card received in the tournament opener versus Germany.

Hungary have no injury concerns ahead of a vital match at the MHPArena.

The State of Play

Both sides are winless after their opening two matches but know victory here could be enough to secure a place in the knockouts as one of the best third-placed sides. Scotland can certainly take hope from their showing in the Switzerland match where they were much improved on their initial outing against Germany.

Hungary also showed positive signs in moments against Scotland and Germany but will be disappointed by their zero point haul so far. Nevertheless, they head into the match narrow favourites at 6/4 and look to repeat their EURO 2016 heroics and reach the knockout stages once again.

Analysis and Best Bets for Scotland vs Hungary

The significance of this match for both sides cannot be underlooked. Only a win will be enough if either are to stand any chance of reaching the knockout stages and that type of pressure can often produce a feisty affair.

Scotland's two opening matches averaged 4.5 total cards, while the Hungarians have also seen their fair share of action, averaging four in total across the tournament so far. We expect this theme to continue in Stuttgart as both vye for a spot among the last sixteen.
