Netherlands vs Turkey Team News

Ronald Koeman will be grateful to have a full Netherlands squad to choose from ahead of the match in Berlin.

Turkey aren't quite so fortunate; midfielders Orkun Kokcu and Ismail Yuksek are both suspended following their victory over Austria on Tuesday. Manager Vincenzo Montella will be buoyed by the return of defensive midfielder and captain Hakan Calhonoglu, though, who is back after sitting out the last 16 tie through suspension.

Netherlands vs Turkey Analysis and Predictions

Ronald Koeman's Dutch side secured a place in a second consecutive major tournament with a comfortable 3-0 ousting of Romania last time out. Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo scored his third goal of EURO 2024 before a Donyell Malen double saw off Edward Iordanescu's side in Munich.

Koeman will also take confidence from his side's second clean sheet in their last three games after limiting Romania to just 0.33 xG at the Allianz Arena. Combined with a ruthless creativity which, in reality, could have seen them win by much wider margins on the day, the Netherlands will fancy their chances of going deep in the tournament after falling on the 'less competitive' side of the draw.

Montella's Turkey will have other ideas, though. A 2-1 victory over Austria, courtesy of a Merih Demiral double, saw them reach the quarter-finals of a major competition for the first time since 2008. The result in Leipzig predictably drew a rapturous reaction from the Turkish contingent in the stands who are all of a sudden dreaming of a place in the semi-finals.

While both of these sides impressed in defensive quarters last time out, their strengths are undoubtedly in forward areas. With so much on the line, we expect both of these sides to go full throttle as they look to land a spot among the final four.

The Netherlands have been very impressive in attacking quarters so far and should ultimately have too much for Turkey here, though we expect the latter to at least get on the scoresheet in front of a boisterous support in this one.
