Edward Iordanescu's Romania side stunned onlookers to finish top of Group E, ahead of well-fancied sides in Belgium, Ukraine and Slovakia. A remarkable 3-0 win over Ukraine eased any tension on matchday one and left them in good stead to progress, before a point in a 1-1 draw with Slovakia saw them reach the knockouts for only the second time at a European Championship.
For a side not exactly renowned for their attacking prowess, Romania still averaged a steady 1.11 xG across the group stage. They also face a Netherlands side who conceded four goals across their three group matches. The Dutch's only clean sheet came in a 0-0 draw with France, yet they still conceded 1.39 xGA across the 90 minutes.
Ronald Koeman's side have impressed on the front foot, buoyed by the form of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo who already has two goals to his name. Questions rightly remain over the ability to shut opponents out, though, and so we expect Romania to find the back of the net before eventually coming up short on Tuesday.
