Normally a team would be happy to return to their home stadium after suffering a difficult result on away soil last time out, but the Everton fans might not be so welcoming given the 4-0 shallacking they endured at Tottenham last weekend.

The Toffees now prepare to welcome a Bournemouth side who, to be fair, haven't had much joy on their travels to Goodison Park in recent years.

It's fair to say that the effects of Sean Dyche's lucky tracksuit have worn off. Everton have endured an abysmal start to the season, suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend before tasting a 4-0 hammering at Tottenham a week later.

Conceding seven goals without any in return have confirmed the pre-season concerns about where the goals would come from for the Toffees. The Everton fanbase haven't wasted any time in voicing their concerns after a video went viral of the welcoming, if you could call it that, the playing squad was greeted by following the loss in North London last weekend.

Pressure is on Sean Dyche who, at the time of writing, is currently favourite (6/1) to be the first Premier League manager to leave their post. To say they are in dire need of a reprieve here would be an understatement.

Bournemouth

The Cherries head to Merseyside on the back of consecutive 1-1 draws in their opening two Premier League matches.

A last-gasp Antoine Semenyo equaliser salvaged a point at Nottingham Forest on matchday one and Bournemouth were denied another late goal - and what this time would have been a winner - against Newcastle last weekend.

VAR, somewhat bizarrely, ruled Dango Ouattara's stoppage time goal a handball, thus preventing them from securing a deserved three points at the Vitality Stadium.

Nevertheless, Bournemouth are continuing the positive form we saw from them in Andoni Iraola's first season in charge on the south coast, where he led them to a 12th-place finish.

Much has been made of Everton's leaky defence across the opening two weekends of the new campaign. Despite averaging just 1.34 goals conceded last term, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process, they've already shipped seven and faced 23 shots on goal so far.

Dyche's men are clearly feeling the absence of young centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who's recovering from minor surgery, but they're going to have to learn to cope without his presence quickly if results are to pickup anytime soon.

Opposition strikers have particularly had plenty of joy against this Everton side in 2024-25. Brighton's Danny Welbeck and Tottenham's Heung-Min Son, both of whom started up top against the Toffees on matchdays one and two, mustered a combined four shots on target en route to helping their clubs to victory. They also managed a combined three goals between them in those games.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have begun life in the wake of Dominic Solanke's recent departure to Spurs, opting to replace the English forward with Porto striker Evanilson. The 24-year-old made his Bournemouth debut against Newcastle last weekend and, while he wasn't able to get himself on the scoresheet, the Brazilian saw plenty of involvement across his first 72 minutes in a Bournemouth shirt.

Evanilson ended his maiden appearance with two shots on target to his name and, given the glaring weaknesses across the Everton backline, backing him to repeat that feat at a surprisingly wide price could prove one of the more astute picks of the weekend.

He comes in at 5/2 to have 1.5+ shots on target generally at Goodison Park in a match he will hope ends in Bournemouth's first victory of the new season, compounding Dyche and co's woes in the process.
