FC Cincinnati look to continue their unbeaten start to the MLS 2024 season as they take on a struggling New York City on Saturday.
Kick-off is set for 11:30pm UK time at the TQL Stadium.
The home side find themselves third in the MLS' Eastern Conference following two wins and two draws in their opening four matches. Cincinnati most recently secured a 2-1 away win over New England Revolution to give them a 100% winning record on the road so far.
They haven't fared as well at home, however. Not only have they failed to win, but Cincinnati haven't even found the net in their opening two home fixtures with both ending in 0-0 draws. Their expected goals (xG) tally sits at just 1.17 overall, and drops to 1.05 at home.
This could well change this weekend though, as they welcome a New York City side who have lost both of their two matches on the road so far. The away side have shipped three goals on their travels while failing to score on both occasions. The run of form has seen them average 1.5 goals conceded per game, while only managing an average of 0.75 goals scored.
New York average an xG of 1.33 overall, but this drops off a cliff to 0.98 on away soil. They also average an expected goals against (xGA) of 1.49 on their travels.
Though Cincinnati have been unable to replicate their away form in front of their home fans so far, I expect this to change this weekend. Backing the home side on the moneyline makes sense, though a low-scoring encounter can be expected in Ohio.
