Fulham host Arsenal at Craven Cottage on Saturday, October 18th at 5:30 pm BST in the Saturday evening Premier League game.
The hosts are desperate to stop the rot after back-to-back defeats, and you can be sure the home crowd won’t allow the visitors to waltz in and treat it like a training session. The Gunners may arrive in full flow after two convincing wins, but Craven Cottage has a habit of turning classy visitors into scrappers.
Odds Now's football tipster Terry Foord shares his insights ahead of the big game and picks out his best bets.
Fulham have slipped to 14th after back-to-back 3-1 defeats on the road to Bournemouth and Aston Villa, and their record of just two wins from seven hardly inspires confidence.
Both of those victories came at Craven Cottage — a scrappy 1-0 against Leeds and a more open 3-1 against Brentford — but even those came against sides who’ve been notoriously poor away from home.
That’s the concern for Marco Silva. Fulham haven’t yet shown they can beat anyone who turns up with intent, and like many sides in the bottom half this season, their entire survival bid may end up resting on how stubborn they can be on their own patch.
Arsenal, meanwhile, look like a side growing stronger by the week and currently find themselves top of the table — helped in no small part by Liverpool’s recent wobble. Mikel Arteta’s men have taken full advantage, sitting a point clear and playing with the control of a team that knows they’re in a title race.
Since that dramatic late equaliser against Manchester City at the Emirates, Arsenal have gone on a four-game winning streak. Newcastle and West Ham have both been brushed aside in the league, Olympiakos were dealt with in Europe, and even the rotated XI got the job done with a 2-0 win over Port Vale in the EFL Cup.
History favours the visitors. Fulham have beaten Arsenal just once in their last ten meetings — a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage on New Year’s Eve in 2023 — while the Gunners have taken six of those fixtures, with the remaining three ending level.
Craven Cottage hasn’t exactly been a fortress in this matchup either. In the last four meetings there, Arsenal have twice won 3-0, added a 2-1 victory, and were held to a 1-1 draw in the most recent visit.
Arteta’s side will know what to expect from a London derby away from home — this won’t be pretty, but they’ve proven before that they can win ugly here.
From a goals angle, the numbers scream entertainment. Both teams have scored in each of the last four head-to-heads, and in eight of the last ten overall. Over 2.5 Goals has landed in four of the last five and in eight of the last ten too — so even when Arsenal dominate, Fulham tend to land a punch.
I’m siding with Arsenal here. Fulham are dealing with injury issues — they may not even have a fully fit striker available — and that lack of cutting edge could prove costly.
Arsenal have the quality to control the game, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them win to nil. Even if Fulham do find a way through, I still fancy the second half to be livelier than the first, with Arsenal ultimately taking the points.
3.5pts – Arsenal to win – 4/7 (Bet365)
0.5pt - Bet Builder: Arsenal to win to nil & highest scoring half = 2nd – 4/1 (Bet365)
