Jeremie Aliadiere Exclusive: 'Arsenal's season can still be positive'
Jeremie Aliadiere Exclusive: 'Arsenal's season can still be positive'

Former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere insists his old club can still enjoy a positive season, despite their current position in the Premier League.

The Gunners currently trail leaders Liverpool by 13 points, though the Londoners do have an extra game to play.

Nevertheless, Arsenal are out of both domestic cups and face an uphill task in the Champions League due to an ongoing injury crisis.

Aliadiere: 'The rest of the squad need to step up'

Long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz have left Arsenal desperately short in forward areas.

To rub further salt in the wounds, the club also failed to bring in reinforcements during the January window, casting doubt over their ability to compete during the second half of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Odds Now via BettingTools.com, former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere has challenged the remaining members of the squad to perform in the absence of key pillars.

He said: "With the striker crisis Arsenal have, it's up to the rest of the squad to step up now.

"Arsenal need to find goals from the likes of [Leandro] Trossard, [Martin] Odegaard, [Declan] Rice and [Ethan] Nwaneri and still maintain a solid defence.

"Arsenal need to find other outlets to score goals and be creative. Confidence has been hit, but this is a massive club with top players, so they need to all pull together as the end of the season can still be positive."

The Frenchman also placed emphasis on the squad's leaders to make themselves heard during a difficult period for the team.

"Odegaard, Rice and Gabriel are the senior figures in the dressing room [and need] to keep everyone’s levels high to ensure Arsenal end the season well. The squad is full of top talent."

Market predicts another trophyless season for Arsenal

Given the current landscape, it isn't a surprise to see Arsenal distant second favourites to win the Premier League in May.

Coming in at a best price of 30/1 with AKBets, the Gunners would need to win practically all of their fixtures while hoping for a monumental Liverpool collapse.

Arsenal are also only fourth favourites to win the Champions League at 6/1, despite handing PSV a 7-1 hammering in the first leg of their round of sixteen tie on Tuesday night.

Ahead of them sit Barcelona (9/2), Real Madrid (4/1) and Liverpool (11/2).

Aliadiere was speaking exclusively to Odds Now via BettingTools.com.
