It looks set to be a highly competitive renewal of League Two this season, both in terms of the league table and the top goalscorer standings
Adam Drury picks out a couple of selections for the latter, putting up 25/1 and 50/1 picks.
There is an inherent risk picking out Bonis, who has experienced EFL goalscorer Will Grigg to get past in order to make the Chesterfield centre-forward position his own.
Having plucked the Northern Irishman from the Dutch second tier after an exciting season at ADO Den Haag, however, it seems unlikely Bonis is here to make up the numbers.
The striker netted 11 goals in the Netherlands last season, having netted 100 career goals in 233 appearances aged just 25.
That natural ability to score should combine very nicely with Chesterfield's ambitions this season.
Paul Cook's side lost in the play-offs last year but look well set to make an even better fist of promotion this time, having brought in winger Dilan Markanday on a permanent deal.
The Spireites were the second-highest goalscorers in the division last term and should create plenty for their forwards.
We just need Bonis to get hold of the shirt.
The last two winners of the League Two top goalscorer award have just been promoted from the National League. Macaulay Langstaff of Notts County in 2023/24, then Michael Cheek of Bromley last season.
While that small sample size should be taken with a pinch of salt, there is consistent evidence that promoted teams from the National League are strong runners at this level – and, therefore, their strikers are a decent bet to score goals.
The last four winners have played for teams who finished outside the top 10, too, so we don't need Oldham to be a promotion candidate to give this a decent run – just to be solid enough in their first season back in the EFL.
Fondop scored 17 goals in the fifth tier last season, with only six players scoring more, and at 6ft3in, has the physical attributes to be a handful in League Two.
I'm happy to follow the trends and back him at a big price.
