Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur: Betting tips and analysis
Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur: Betting tips and analysis

Leicester have returned to the Premier League after a one-year hiatus from the top-flight but an imminent points deduction for financial breaches wasn't exactly the welcome home party they were hoping for.

The Foxes host a Tottenham side hoping new signing Dominic Solanke will spur (couldn't help it) towards a first top-four finish since 2022.

Odds Now's own Brad Walker runs you through the final fixture of the weekend and points out where the best value lies.

Tale of the tape

Leicester City

Newly-promoted sides usually come into the new season in a bouyant mood, yet there already feels as though there's a dark cloud looming over Leicester City.

They are about to be the latest Premier League club slapped with a point deduction for PSR breaches, a matter not helped by a disastrous pre-season under new manager Steve Cooper.

With just win across their four friendly matches, Leicester also failed to score in three, including a 3-0 away defeat to Lens in their final preparation game before kick-off on Monday night.

The results have been enough to foster a gloomy atmosphere among the club's online fanbase, large portions of which are already losing patience with the new man at the Leicester helm.

Cooper's history with East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest won't exactly help his cause, mind.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham narrowly missed out on Champions League football last season but there were positive signs under Ange Postecoglou.

Perhaps if their fans had put their Manchester City shirts away when Guardiola and co visited down the stretch, they might've even got themselves over the line.

The atmosphere, or lack of, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that night clearly aggravated Postecoglou who went all-out attack on the support or, again, lack of, post-match.

He wanted more and is determined to cut through the club's 'Spursy' reputation to finally bring silverware back to N17.

His signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth will certainly help.

Scoring 21 goals in a solid Bournemouth side last season, the Englishman should be backed to soar those same heights in an adventurous Tottenham side this campaign.

Leicester vs Tottenham: Betting tips and predictions

The visitors predictably come in strong favourites at a best price of 4/6 to get off to a winning start.

It's hard to envisage anything but a Tottenham victory, though the nature of the win is what I think will grab the headlines here.

Spurs' expansive approach often came at their own expense last season - their 61 goals conceded must improve if they are to secure a place among the top four this time around - but Leicester shouldn't prove too threatening in their season-opener.

Scoring just once in pre-season is a worry even if it just pre-season. A failure to register a single clean sheet in that time isn't exactly convincing, either.

A positive start for Steve Cooper is vital given the inevitable points deduction heading their way but I expect them to get beat heavily by a Tottenham attack spearheaded by their new £65 million signing.
