Liverpool vs Wolves: Betting Odds & Prediction
Liverpool vs Wolves: Betting Odds & Prediction

Jurgen Klopp takes charge of Liverpool for the final time when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield on Sunday.

Both sides have nothing to play for on the final weekend of the season but will hope to end the campaign on a high. Kick-off is set for 4pm UK time.

Recent Form

Liverpool

The hosts have endured shaky form since mid-March, culminating in their dropping out of the Premier League title race. Klopp's side have also bowed out of both the Europa League and FA Cup, and have failed to record a single league clean sheet since a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest on 2nd March.

Their recent games have seen plenty of goalscoring action, though, with six total goals scored across their last two outings. Most recently, Liverpool forfeited a 3-1 lead to eventually draw 3-3 at Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, the Merseysiders still boast the best home record in the Premier League, losing just one of their 18 fixtures at Anfield so far. Goals haven't been hard to come by, with 47 of their 84 goals scored coming on home turf. Liverpool have netted three or more goals on 12 occasions at Anfield this term.

The Reds have managed just nine clean sheets this season, though, with five of these coming at home. Their last clean sheet at Anfield came in a 0-0 draw against Manchester United back in December.

Wolves

Gary O'Neil's side have enjoyed a successful campaign which sees them sit in 13th heading into the final weekend. A top-half finish isn't completely out of reach, but Wolves would need to win here and hope for other results to go their way.

Their form has dwindled in recent weeks, with Wolves recording just one win in their last nine league outings. O'Neil's men have also failed to win on the road since a 2-1 win at Tottenham back in February.

Serious injuries to forwards Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto haven't helped their attacking output. Only five sides have scored less than the Midlanders across the campaign, and they've already failed to score in five away outings this season.

Wolves did cause Liverpool significant problems in the reverse fixture earlier this season, though. Despite eventually suffering a 3-1 home defeat, Wolves created a multitude of chances to extend their lead in the first half.

Prediction

Liverpool will be determined to end Klopp's eight-and-a-half year tenure at the club with a win. Despite enduring disappointing form in recent weeks, they remain the best home side in the Premier League, and recently secured a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Conceding goals has been a problem for Klopp's men all season, though, and so OddsNow expect both sides to find the back of the net before the 90 minutes are up.
