Lorient vs PSG: Betting Odds & Prediction

Relegation-threatened Lorient host Ligue 1 champions-elect Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.

The home side are in dire need of points if they are to escape the relegation places, while PSG have all but confirmed their twelfth Ligue 1 title as they lead the division by eleven points.

Kick-off is set for 6pm UK time at the Stade du Moustoir - Yves Allainmat.

Recent Form

Lorient

The hosts come into the game winless in their last seven Ligue 1 matches, and have also lost their last three home fixtures. Lorient's overall home form is the 15th-worst in the division, with Regis Le Bris' side averaging just 0.93 points per game across their 14 home outings.

Though their 1.36 goals scored in home matches is respectable, particularly compared to the lowly 1.07 they've managed on the road, conceding goals has been a huge problem for Lorient; 55 goals shipped in 29 league outings leaves them with a worrying 1.9 conceded, though this does drop slightly to 1.71 in home fixtures.

Nevertheless, Lorient have shipped two or more goals in 50% of home matches, and have conceded at least three in 28%. The stats make for an ominous reading as they prepare to face the division's highest scorers in PSG.

PSG

Luis Enrique's men will be buoyed by their emphatic 4-1 home victory over Lyon on Sunday which saw the Parisians race into a 3-0 lead after 32 minutes. Lyon pulled a goal back five minutes later before a second goal for Goncalo Ramos sealed the victory in the 42nd minute.

The win made it 25 league matches unbeaten for the Parisians, who also secured passage to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a wondrous comeback against Barcelona last week.

PSG have had little trouble finding the net this season, sitting as the highest-scoring team in the French top-flight with 69 scored so far. 31 of these have came on the road, at an average of 2.21 per match, while PSG have shipped just 0.64 across those games.

71% of PSG's away matches have seen them score at least two goals, while 36% have seen them bag at least three.

Prediction

PSG predictably enter the match as firm favourites (2/5) given the respective positions of both sides. Though little value can be found in backing the away side outright, OddsNow anticipate plenty of goalscoring action as Enrique's men inevitably move a step closer to another Ligue 1 championship.

OddsNow's Pick: Over 3.5+ goals scored (13/10 @ Betfair)
