The standout fixture of the weekend — and arguably the season — takes place on Sunday at 4:30pm BST, as Manchester City host Arsenal in a title-defining clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Our expert football tipster, Terry Foord, delves into the stats, facts, and form for this top-of-the-table encounter in the Premier League and delivers his best bets for the game.
Just six points separate the sides, and this has a real “now or never” feel for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. A win here would significantly cut the gap, especially with a game in hand, and shift all the pressure back onto Arsenal.
City come into this in excellent form. Since their Champions League exit, they’ve responded with three straight wins to nil — including lifting the EFL Cup with a 2-0 win over Arsenal, a 4-0 FA Cup demolition of Liverpool, and a dominant 3-0 away win at Chelsea.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are starting to wobble at the worst possible time. Talk of a potential quadruple has quickly faded, with exits in the domestic cups and inconsistent league form raising questions again.
Mikel Arteta can point to a Champions League semi-final after a 0-0 draw with Sporting CP, but performances haven’t been convincing. More concerning is the lack of goals — just three scored in their last five matches.
City ended Arsenal’s six-match unbeaten run against them with that 2-0 EFL Cup win in March. In the last five league meetings, Arsenal have two wins and three draws — but both victories came at the Emirates.
At the Etihad, City are unbeaten in their last ten Premier League matches, winning seven and drawing three.
Goals have been less frequent in recent meetings. Over 2.5 goals have landed in just two of the last five league clashes, and both teams have scored in only two of those. Arsenal have managed just three goals in their last seven visits to the Etihad.
Despite expecting an improved performance from Arsenal, it’s difficult to look beyond Manchester City here. Their current form, combined with home advantage and recent dominance in big games, gives them the edge.
City haven’t lost a league game at home since August, and this feels like the moment they reassert themselves firmly in the title race.
In the bet builder, Nico O’Reilly is worth including once again. He’s been central to City’s recent performances and continues to get into dangerous positions. A shot on target looks likely, and he has the ability to contribute with a goal or assist in a game of this magnitude.
3pts – Manchester City to win – 5/6 (Bet365)
1pts – Nico O’Reilly to score or assist, O’Reilly 1+ shots on target & Manchester City to have 5+ shot on target – 8/1 (Bet365)
Total staked - 4pts
