Manchester City vs Liverpool Betting Tips | Premier League Match Preview

This weekend’s Super Sunday clash (4:30 pm GMT) sees Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in a fixture that rarely disappoints.

While it’s still early in the Premier League season, this second vs third showdown already carries serious title implications. The loser could find themselves slipping off the pace in the title race.

Odds Now football tipster Terry Foord takes a closer look at the form, statistics, and best betting insights ahead of this epic encounter.

Manchester City vs Liverpool – Stats and Analysis

Manchester City’s form has improved in recent weeks, but with Pep Guardiola’s side still six points adrift of Arsenal, slip-ups like the recent loss to Aston Villa simply aren’t good enough for a team with title ambitions.

While Erling Haaland continues to score for fun — contributing 13 of City’s 20 league goals - there’s a real question over their lack of a Plan B. No other player has scored more than once this season, with the remaining seven goals shared among five players (plus a few own goals).

Liverpool, meanwhile, come into this fixture buoyed by a fantastic 1–0 win over Real Madrid at Anfield on Tuesday. It followed a 2–0 victory against Aston Villa three days earlier — two clean sheets and back-to-back wins that underline their growing defensive solidity at home.

However, Arne Slot’s side have struggled on the road. They’ve already lost as many away games this season as they did in the entirety of last term. Even more concerning, those defeats have come back-to-back in the Premier League, with Liverpool conceding more than they’ve scored on their travels — a stark contrast to last season, when they topped the away form table.

Head-to-Head

The recent head-to-head record leans firmly in Liverpool’s favour. The Reds have won the last two meetings without conceding and are unbeaten in the last four overall. Manchester City’s last victory in this fixture came at the Etihad back in April 2023.

Interestingly, we’ve seen under 2.5 goals in each of the last four encounters, suggesting a more tactical edge in recent clashes. However, despite their home advantage, City haven’t kept a clean sheet against Liverpool in seven consecutive home games — a run Pep Guardiola will be desperate to end.

Manchester City vs Liverpool betting analysis

I’m tentatively siding with Manchester City here. The stakes are huge — a win keeps them right in the title race, while a loss would hand a major advantage to Arsenal.

City remain heavily reliant on Erling Haaland, but given his current form, it’s difficult to see who stops him. The Norwegian continues to be the difference-maker in big matches, and this feels like another moment where he’ll rise to the occasion.

That said, Liverpool have scored in each of the last seven meetings with City, so I like the angle of City to win and both teams to score.

For the bet builder, Haaland to score is the obvious inclusion, while Dominik Szoboszlai looks value to register a shot on target — he’s hit eight on target in his last six matches, with six coming in just the last two.

Finally, I’ll add Hugo Ekitike to commit a foul — he’s already into double figures for fouls this season and loves to get stuck in.

Terry Foord’s Best Bets for Manchester City vs Liverpool

2pts – Manchester City win (and BTTS) – 21/10 (Bet365)

0.5pt bet builder – Haaland to score, Szoboszlai to have 1+ shots on target & Ekitike to have 1+ fouls committed 9/2 (Bet365)
