Marseille vs RC Lens: Betting Odds & Prediction

Mon, 28 Jul 2025
Marseille look to close the gap on sixth-placed RC Lens when the two sides meet on Sunday evening.
Lens secured a 1-0 home victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Kick-off is set for 8pm UK time at the Stade Vélodrome.
Recent Form
Marseille
The home side find themselves in eighth but haven't won any of their last five Ligue 1 matches. More dropped points this weekend could see them leapfrogged by Lyon depending on their result at home to AS Monaco on the same day.
If not for their home form, Jean Louis-Gasset's side would find themselves further down the table. Despite their languishing in midtable, Marseille still boast the third-best home record in Ligue 1. They're winless in their last two at Stade Vélodrome though, and will hope to return to winning ways this weekend.
Goals haven't been a problem with an average of 1.73 scored per game, and Marseille have failed to find the net on only three occasions this term. Ten matches have seen them net at least two goals in front of their home fans.
Marseille's defensive record is also superb at home, averaging an impressive 0.73 conceded on home turf. This is a significant improvement on the 1.73 shipped in away fixtures.
RC Lens
Franck Haise's men have struggled for form in comparison. Despite securing a 1-0 home win against Clermont Foot last weekend, they were winless in the four matches prior. Their last two away outings have also ended in defeat.
Lens have averaged 1.07 goals scored and conceded so far, and have failed to score in just two away fixtures. Only three have seen them net two or more goals, though.
Prediction
Marseille will be disappointed with their overall performance this term, but the majority of their struggles have come on the road. Their record at home has been outstanding, despite points dropped in recent weeks, and Louis-Gasset's men should have too much for a stuttering Lens side.
