La Liga champions Real Madrid take on Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final on Thursday evening.

Will Los Blancos continue their unbeaten run in Jeddah, or can Mallorca spring up a shock?

Odds Now’s Brad Walker has combed over the match-up to discover the best value from a punting perspective.

Odds Now's Real Madrid vs Mallorca selection

Real Madrid improved after shaky start

After claiming their 36th La Liga crown last season, things didn’t look as straight-forward for Carlo Ancelotti’s men during the early stages of this campaign.

Dropped points in the opening weeks and a 4-0 battering at the hands of bitter rivals Barcelona looked to spell danger for Los Blancos, but Madrid have since regained some momentum ahead of the second half of the season.

Ancelotti’s side head to Jeddah unbeaten in their last seven, a run which has seen them climb to the summit of the La Liga table.

Mallorca brought back down to earth in recent weeks

Madrid welcome a Mallorca side currently soaring at unfamiliar heights.

Jagoba Arrasate’s men currently sit sixth in the Spanish top-flight, level on points with fifth-placed Villarreal after 19 played.

Mallorca’s form has slightly dipped in recent weeks, though.

They’ve lost three of their last five in all competitions, and came up short in a 3-0 loss to Segunda Division side Pontevedra in the Copa del Rey last time out.

Real Madrid vs Mallorca best bet

A staple of Madrid’s improvement in form has been their success away from home.

The current holders haven’t lost any of their last five on the road, and are yet to fail to score in an away fixture in their La Liga pursuits.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see an attack featuring the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr score an abundance of goals, with only Barcelona scoring more in the league so far.

In fact, 42% of Madrid’s league matches have seen them score on three or more occasions.

Add Mallorca’s tendency to give away chances to the mix - Arrasate’s side have averaged 1.4 xGA this term - and things suddenly look pretty bleak for last year’s Copa del Rey runners-up.

Ultimately, Madrid have proven themselves too hot to handle even for Europe’s elite down the years, and Mallorca’s dip in form couldn’t have came at a worse time.

Getting over 2.5 Real Madrid goals at just shy of 3/2 with Betfair looks a no-brainer.
