Slovenia vs Portugal: Betting Odds & Prediction

Slovenia host 2016 European champions Portugal on Tuesday evening as both sides step-up preparations for EURO 2024.

Both sides secured automatic qualification for the tournament in Germany through their respective qualifying groups. Kick-off is set for 7:45pm at Stozice Stadium.

Recent Form

Slovenia

The hosts secured only their second ever appearance at a European Championships with a second-placed finish in Group H. Their most recent outing saw a 2-2 draw away at Malta.

Slovenia impressed in qualifying, winning seven of their ten matches while scoring 20 goals and conceding just nine.

Their home form was particularly impressive; Slovenia won four out of five, while drawing the other. An expected goal (xG) tally of 1.41 was bettered by an average of two goals scored per game at home. Defensively, Slovenia averaged 1.04 expected goals against (xGA) but conceded just 0.8 in actuality.

They also kept clean sheets in four of their ten qualifying games, whilst failing to score in just one. Slovenia also scored in all five of their home matches.

Portugal

The EURO 2016 winners continued their record of high-scoring matches with a 5-2 home victory over Sweden on Thursday. Their last five matches have featured 21 goals in total, with Portugal netting five in two of them.

Their form in EURO 2024 qualifying was no different; their ten matches saw an average of 3.8 total goals, with Portugal scoring in all ten. They also averaged 3.6 goals per game, while conceding an average of just 0.2!

In six of their ten matches during qualifying, Portugal scored at least 2.5 goals. They also scored in both halves during six of those matches.

Prediction

Both sides have one thing in common: goals. And plenty of them, at that. Expect plenty of goal-mouth action come Tuesday evening as both sides amp up preparations for EURO 2024 this summer.
