Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton: Betting tips and analysis
Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton: Betting tips and analysis

Tottenham play host for the first time this season following a disappointing 1-1 draw at Leicester on Monday evening.

They prepare to welcome Sean Dyche's Toffees who find themselves in a sticky situation following a 3-0 drubbing at home to Brighton on the opening weekend.

Odds Now's Brad Walker runs you through all of the key details ahead of the clash in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Tale of the tape

Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou's men enjoyed a dominant first-half at the King Power on Monday but were left with a single point to show for it.

The game saw £65 million signing Dominic Solanke make his Spurs debut up top, yet it was Pedro Porro who found the net with his third goal in his last four league outings.

While a lack of creativity in the final third made for a frustrating watch for Spurs fans - they averaged a mere 0.62 xG despite having 71% of possession - I suspect they might have more joy on their own patch this weekend.

Former Toffees frontman Richarlison would relish netting against his former club for a fourth time in a Spurs shirt, though he faces a late fitness test to determine whether he will feature.

Everton

I must admit, my initial call for Everton to push for a top-half finish this season took a blow with their opening result against Brighton.

They were severely hampered by the absence of young centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, though. Ashley Young's untimely red card hardly helped matters too.

Everton did look threatening during the early stages but questions remain over their creativity, or perhaps lack of, in front of goal.

With just one goal in their last three outings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - while conceding eight - Dyche's men may be in for another tough afternoon this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton: Betting tips and predictions

Everton's recent record against Tottenham is abysmal in recent years. Their 1-0 win in N17 three years ago is their only league victory in this fixture across their last 23 outings.

It's not surprising therefore to see Spurs come in strong 4/9 favourites at the time of writing.

One area where the Toffees have enjoyed some success against Tottenham is on corners. They mustered a combined 17 in their two encounters with them last season, eight of which came in their 2-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December last year.

Set-pieces are also one of the Toffees' main strengths overall - they were the source of 19 of their 40 goals from last season.

Given Everton's continued struggles from open play, set-pieces are likely to be a route they look to exploit in hope of undoing their apparent hoodoo against their North London counterparts.
