Back this 9/5 Tottenham vs Liverpool single

Tottenham collide with Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday evening.

Can Spurs end their dismal run of form, or will current holders Liverpool move a step closer to lifting this trophy for a second season running?

Odds Now's Brad Walker runs you through the fixture from a betting perspective.

Odds Now's Tottenham vs Liverpool selection

Spurs come into this game having picked up just two wins in their last 11 matches in all competitions.

Neither of those have came in their last four encounters - a run which started with a damning 6-3 loss to Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in December.

They've also lost three of their last five at home, including a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime.

With manager Ange Postecoglou vowing to win a trophy in his second season, the pressure is on for the North Londoners to find a way past the current holders and secure a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, visitors Liverpool were made to work hard for a point in a 2-2 home draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The result means they remain six points clear at the top of the Premier League after Arsenal dropped points the day before, but the amount of goals conceded in recent weeks is a concern.

Arne Slot's men have now picked up just one clean sheet in their last six - a period which has also seen them concede two or more goals in four of those matches.

Expect Liverpool to win in a high-scoring encounter

This game screams goals, and not only because of Liverpool's thrilling 6-3 win at this venue last month.

Injuries to the Spurs backline have severely hampered them in recent weeks, while Slot's men have also developed a habit of shipping goals at the back.

The game may hold more significance for the home side, who haven't won a trophy since winning this competition back in 2008.

But, Liverpool have won the Carabao Cup in two of the last three seasons, and have lifted the trophy more than any other club in the competition's history (10).

Slot will also be eager to pickup his first piece of silverware in his maiden term, and can name a strong side ahead of an FA Cup tie with minnows Accrington Stanley at the weekend.

Liverpool's free-flowing attack ran rampant against Spurs' makeshift defence back in December and should ultimately be backed to do the same again.

The return of Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa from injury leaves Slot with options in abundance in forward areas against a Spurs side who have conceded 10 goals in their last four home matches.

Given the recent defensive records of these two, pairing up the away win with over 3.5 goals scored at 9/5 (Betfair) looks a more than juicy price.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has seen an average of 4.27 goals in total in the league, while Liverpool's away fixtures have also seen their fair share of goalscoring action, averaging 4.22.

64% of Spurs' home matches have also seen at least four goals scored, while the same can also be said of 56% of Liverpool's matches on the road.
