The final tie of the FA Cup quarter-final weekend takes place at the London Stadium in a 4:30pm BST kick-off on Sunday, where West Ham host Leeds with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
Our expert football tipster, Terry Foord, considers the stats and form ahead of the all-Premier League clash, and delivers his best bets for the game.
West Ham come into this off the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Aston Villa — a result that dents their Premier League ambitions — but the FA Cup offers a welcome distraction. With a semi-final spot at stake, this competition could provide a real boost to their season.
Nuno Espírito Santo has steadied the ship in recent months, helped by the outstanding form of Crysencio Summerville and the defensive impact of Axel Disasi since arriving on loan. West Ham have had to work hard to reach this stage, though, progressing past QPR, Burton Albion and Brentford — all after extra time. That added workload could be a factor.
Leeds, meanwhile, are struggling badly in front of goal. They have failed to score in their last four Premier League matches and remain just four points clear of the relegation zone — with West Ham directly below them.
Interestingly, their FA Cup form tells a different story. Wins over Derby, Birmingham and Norwich have seen them score seven goals, suggesting a more open approach in cup competition. However, their away form is a major concern: one draw and five defeats in their last six, with no wins in their last twelve on the road.
West Ham have generally had the better of this fixture since Leeds returned to the Premier League, winning four of the last seven meetings. They also beat Leeds 2-0 in the FA Cup in 2022 and have won the most recent encounter at the London Stadium.
Goals are usually a feature. Over 2.5 goals have landed in six of the last seven league meetings, with both teams scoring in six of those as well. Given the “free hit” nature of a cup quarter-final — with survival still the main priority in the league — another open game wouldn’t be a surprise.
This game could hinge on the availability of Crysencio Summerville. If he starts, West Ham look strong favourites to win inside 90 minutes. At the time of writing, that seems unlikely, which shifts the outlook.
Without Summerville, this feels like a much tighter and potentially cagey affair. West Ham have drawn all three of their FA Cup matches so far before progressing in extra time, and Leeds have also needed extra time in one of their ties.
Both sides have been involved in a number of draws recently, and that trend could continue here. The draw in 90 minutes looks like a solid play.
For the bet builder, Konstantinos Mavropanos is worth including for a shot. He’s been a threat from set pieces and gets forward regularly for corners. Adding West Ham to hit 4+ corners also makes sense given their home approach.
2pts – Draw – 27/10 (Coral)
1pts – West Ham to qualify, both teams to score, Under 3.5 goals, West Ham 4+ corners and Konstantinos Mavropanos 1+ shots – 11/1 (Bet365)
Total staked - 3pts
