West Ham United host a stuttering Liverpool side in Saturday's early kick-off in the Premier League.

The hosts have endured a difficult 2024 so far, picking up just three wins in the league. Their most recent outing saw them suffer a 5-2 defeat at Crystal Palace, with David Moyes' side finding themselves four goals down after 31 minutes.

Nevertheless, a top seven finish is still on the cards for West Ham providing they can muster the points to close the two-point gap between themselves and Newcastle with two games remaining.

Given Liverpool's recent struggles in the league, the Hammers will fancy their chances at landing an upset this weekend. Though their home form betters their record on the road, West Ham only have the eleventh-best home record in the division after averaging 1.47 points per game. They were, however, unbeaten in four home fixtures before suffering a 2-0 loss to Fulham earlier this month.

Goals haven't been a problem for Moyes' men, who have averaged 1.53 goals at home so far, but they have failed to score in four of their 17 home matches. Their main troubles have been at the other end of the pitch, with 1.47 goals conceded leading to just four clean sheets. Seven of these matches have seen them concede at least two.

Liverpool

Liverpool's Premier League title charge is all but over following their 2-0 defeat to city rivals Everton in midweek. Their recent run of form, which has seen them win only two of their last five, has made for a disappointing end to Jurgen Klopp's final campaign at the Anfield helm. Misfiring forwards combined with an inability to keep opposition out have left the Reds with too much to do at a pivotal point in the season, with confidence on the floor as they prepare to travel to the capital.

Their overall away form has been impressive, standing as the third-best in the league, but they've kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches on the road. Wednesday's loss at Everton was the first time they'd fail to score on their travels, but a failure to convert chances has cost them dearly in recent games.

Liverpool have also managed just four clean sheets on the road in 17 outings. The Everton loss was the fifth time they've conceded at least two goals in away matches.

Prediction

Both sides have struggled in recent weeks and now have little to play for in the remaining games. West Ham's move to the London Stadium has been far from harmonious, and the Hammers faithful seem to be growing increasingly restless with manager David Moyes.

Liverpool have been poor of late, but their added quality going forward should still prove too much for a struggling West Ham side. The Reds have made habit of conceding though, with OddsNow predicting both sides to find the net before the 90 minutes are up.
