Back this 8/1 Wolves vs Manchester City bet-builder on Sunday
Back this 8/1 Wolves vs Manchester City bet-builder on Sunday

Gary O'Neil and Wolves are in dire need of points after finding themselves rock bottom with seven matches played.

However, their woes could be compounded further by the impending visit of reigning champions Manchester City this weekend.

Odds Now's Brad Walker has put up a tidy 8/1 bet-builder ahead of Sunday's kick-off at Molineux.

Brad Walker's Wolves vs Manchester City bet-builder selections

Selection #1 - Manchester City to score 2.5+ goals (Evens)

Wolves' start to the season makes for difficult reading.

All but one of their matches have ended in defeat - the only exception being a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at the end of August.

Conceding goals has been a huge problem for O'Neil's men, who are averaging three goals shipped per league outing so far.

In fact, their last three have seen 10 goals be put past Sam Johnstone in the Wolves net.

Five of those came in a damning 5-3 defeat at Brentford last time out.

It's a good job they're not facing the division's top-scorers this weekend then, eh? Yikes.

City have already found the net on 17 occasions across their seven league fixtures, three of which have seen them score three or more goals.

Coupled with Wolves' defensive mishaps - they've conceded 39 shots in their last three - it's hard not to see the champions winning in emphatic fashion this weekend.

Selection #2 - Erling Haaland to score anytime (4/7)

At the centre of City's success has been the irresistible form of talismanic striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian has already scored 10 Premier League goals in 2024-25 - a run in which he has netted two hat-tricks.

Haaland also heads to Molineux having became Norway's all-time top goalscorer during the international break at the ripe old age of 24-years-old.

Need I expand on why backing him to score once again this weekend is a no-brainer?

Selection #3 - Joao Gomes to be shown a card (21/20)

Wolves' Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes will need to be at his best if his side are to stand any chance of ousting the Pep Guardiola juggernaut this weekend.

City may be without midfield stalwart Rodri to a long-term knee injury, but Croatian Mateo Kovacic has more than stepped up to the plate.

The 30-year-old not only scored twice in the champions' 3-2 home victory over Fulham last time out, but has also taken up the stricken Spaniard's orchestrative role with breathless ease.

Halting City's dominance in the middle of the park will be vital for the Midlanders and particularly Gomes, who will likely be tasked with breaking play up in that area of the pitch.

Gomes is no stranger to asserting himself on his opposition number, evidenced by the three yellow cards he already has to his name so far this term, and I'll be backing him to add a fourth before the 90 minutes are up this weekend.
