In an exclusive chat with Boxing Now, popular British heavyweight Dave Allen has confirmed a clash with ex-World Champion Deontay Wilder could be on the cards.

Allen, 33, has rejuvenated his career in recent times with two impressive victories over prospect Johnny Fisher – having also pushed Frazer Clarke very close in a controversial bout two year ago.

And the Doncaster-born star admits some of the sport's biggest names are being touted as a potential future opponent for him, including Wilder.

Asked if it was a case of a date being confirmed for his next fight but an opponent still being sought out, Allen said: "Pretty much, yeah. That's where we're at right now.

"The Wilder fight may happen next, but I need to win it October first. So, I'd like to box the worst guy in the world first.

"I want the Wilder fight. Of course, I do! It's the biggest opportunity, the money's great. I just need to get this next one out of the way.

"Eddie [Hearn] keeps throwing these names out saying 'we need to fight so and so first' . Like, good fighters, and I'm like, 'Ed, come on, give me a break!

"But no, it'll be a good opponent next and then maybe we'll start looking at Wilder, looking at the other top guys and thinking maybe I can hang in there with them."
