Legendary boxing trainer Peter Fury believes Dave Allen has what it takes to upset Arslanbek Makhmudov when they clash at the Sheffield Utilita Arena on Saturday, October 11th.
Popular heavyweight Allen, 33, is a narrow underdog for a bout he is describing as the 'biggest fight of his career' against the 20-2 Russian, with bookies pricing him at 21/20 (10Bet) to get the job done.
However, training dynamo Fury is convinced that Allen has what it takes to spring a surprise and delight his loyal legion of fans next Saturday.
In an exclusive interview with Boxing Now, Fury told Aky Karim: "I'm not just giving Dave a good chance [of a win]. I'm giving him this by knockout.
"Dave Allen is too good for that guy. People underestimate Dave Allen. Dave Allen can box.
"The only thing he hasn't done is not trained properly for his fights in the past. But now he's had some success, a few quid in his pocket and a good team around him, Dave can box.
"Dave came to me at around 17/18 years of age, and he had great boxing skills. For one reason and another, he's not put them into practice.
"But a fit and confident Dave Allen has far too much for him, in my opinion. I think he'll stop him - and stop him as well as the other two have stopped him too."
