Darts returns on Monday afternoon with 128 PDC pros battling it out for the Players Championship 24 title.
Our arrows expert Matt Hill offers up three betting tips ahead of the action, which takes place from the MK Arena in Milton Keynes (1pm BST start).
Damon Heta may still be waiting for his major breakthrough but it doesn’t take a genius to conclude that his form away from the big TV cameras is up there with the very best.
Since gaining his Tour Card in 2020, Heta has won eight of these events and his most recent triumph at PC20 completed the impressive feat of picking up at least two Pro Tour titles in three consecutive seasons. Nobody else has matched that level of consistent winning on the floor.
If you’d have backed the Aussie at the most favourable each-way terms available for every event since he joined the Tour, you’d have made a profit in each of the last six years. So when there’s 28/1 available, don’t overthink it – just get on!
Bradley Brooks shocked the darting world when winning PC21 last month, having gone off a whopping 500/1 for his maiden title.
Well, shocked is a stretch. For those paying attention, Brooks had been throwing some sensational stuff for several months – correlating with a change in equipment – and it seems we’re now witnessing the talent he’s always possessed really come to the fore.
The days of getting him at 500/1 for these events are now consigned to the history books but I still make the 125/1 with four-place each-way terms more than acceptable.
All of his numbers from the last five events equate to a top-8 market performer, so to be getting the best part of 33/1 on the place element of the bet is fantastic.
What’s more, he’s shown he has the stones to go all the way. An impressive thumping of Gerwyn Price in the PC21 final would give you lots of confidence should he find himself in a similar situation again.
It’s amazing to think that Niels Zonneveld is still being priced like a rag when he’s made the last eight of Pro Tour events more consistently than anyone else over the last three months.
Five quarter final or better runs in his last 15 outings is a ridiculously strong level of performance – and the Dutchman probably should’ve had a maiden win under his belt too, having lost a nervy final to fellow first-timer Sebastien Bialecki at PC22.
Zonneveld’s unorthodox throw doesn’t make for great viewing aesthetically but it is very effective and he’s certainly a player the market constantly undervalues. Sky’s quote of 275/1 with enhanced place terms is unquestionably a value poke.
1pt EW - Damon Heta - 28/1 (Sky Bet)
0.5pt EW - Bradley Brooks - 125/1 (Sky Bet)
0.25pt EW - Niels Zonneveld - 275/1 (Sky Bet)
Total staked - 2.5pts
