Stephen Bunting 33/1 for 2026 PDC World Championship after Swiss Darts Trophy win

Stephen Bunting remains unchanged as a a 33/1 outsider for this winter's PDC World Championship despite continuing an impressive 2025 by picking up the Swiss Darts Trophy on Sunday night,

The Liverpool-born ace, better known as The Bullet by arrows fans, overcame surprise finalist Luke Woodhouse 8-3 in a one-sided showpiece to pick up his sixth individual title of the 2025 campaign – adding to his International Darts Open title and two wins apiece on the Pro Tour and World Series.

After his victory, Bunting confidently proclaimed: "I’m playing the best darts of my life.

"I feel consistently that I'm delivering. I'm so happy with this win, it means a lot.

“Luke’s had a fantastic week too. There’s no better time to be playing your best darts, so this will give him a lot of confidence going into future tournaments."

Questions to answer on biggest stage

Though Bunting has undoubtedly been one of the year's star performers, the lack of movement in his PDC World Championship odds shows bookmakers remain unconvinced about his ability to rule the darting world.

Bunting's head to head records against chief threats such as Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are respectable enough but the former BDO world champion has still only won one major TV title during his decade in the PDC ranks – the 2024 Masters.

A career-best run to the final four at Ally Pally last year was halted emphatically by Littler, who swept him aside with ease. It was a similar story the year before, when cruising into round four before being whitewashed by Michael van Gerwen.

But having trebled his PDC career title tally in the space of eight months, Bunting will believe he's never been better positioned to rule the darting world.

Busy period ahead

Darts' top names have got a very busy October coming up, starting with a Players Championship triple header which commences on Tuesday afternoon in Leicester.

That tees things up nicely ahead of the World Grand Prix next week, where the top 16 ranked players from both the Order of Merit and seasonal Pro Tour rankings do battle in the unique double-in/ double-out format – where Mike De Decker triumphed at a three-figure price 12 months ago.

The month also includes the final Euro Tour event of the season, followed by the European Championship in Germany, where reigning champion Ritchie Edhouse won't even have the chance to defend his crown having failed to qualify by an agonising margin.

Then in November, the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals top the bill, with all roads then leading to Ally Pally for the 2026 World Darts Championship which starts on December 11th 2025.
