The Champions League returns this evening with the latest round of League Phase fixtures, as the race for the knockout stages starts to warm up.
Our football tipster Matt Hill (@Matt_Hill93) has four betting tips from across this evening’s nine fixtures.
Arsenal have enjoyed a dream start to the season, sat top of the Premier League and boasting a 100% record from three Champions League outings.
There’s little reason to think the Gunners’ forward momentum will be halted with this trip to Czechia, to face a Slavia Prague side who are still searching for their first three points in Europe’s premier club competition this term.
However, Slavia have at least shown themselves to be robust in the face of superior opposition. Draws against Bodo Glimt and away to Atalanta were results the market did not anticipate but they were good value for points in both fixtures.
Furthermore, Arsenal are dealing with a couple of notable absentees this evening. Most notably, Viktor Gyokores’ injury leaves them without a recognised centre forward, meaning MIkel Merino or Leandro Trossard could be deployed in a false nine – which could harm their build-up play here.
Declan Rice being one yellow card away from suspension could also see the England ace withdrawn early, given Mikel Arteta will be desperate not to lose his midfield talisman for Matchday 5’s showdown with Bayern Munich.
All told, the Gunners’ quality should see them get a positive result here but backing them to win with under 3.5 match goals looks far more appealing at just shy of even money, rather than the skinny 1/4 on the win line.
Two European giants collide in Paris as the reigning Champions League winners welcome Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.
PSG have not been at their sumptuous best this term but are still doing enough to top Ligue 1, sat on 24 points from their 11 league fixtures thus far. That has been achieved through defensive robustness (just nine goals conceded) rather than their usual free-scoring style.
There have been no such issues in Europe, however, netting 13 goals in their opening three wins – 4-0 against Atalanta, 2-1 at Barcelona and 7-2 at Leverkusen.
But only their very best is likely to be enough this evening against a Bayern side looking even more rampant than usual in 2025/26.
The Bavarians are the only side in Europe’s top leagues holding a 100% winning record in all competitions, having scored a ridiculous 54 goals in those 15 matches and conceded just 10. Harry Kane has 22 of those on his own.
This will be both clubs’ biggest test to date this season and it feels like the visitors are operating on a slightly higher level than their hosts right now. So, 13/8 on this Bayern side simply has to be backed at the moment.
Norwegian champions Bodo Glimt have shown themselves to be no soft touches on the continental stage in recent years – and this looks a prime opportunity for them to notch a first ever win in the competition (barring qualifiers).
They welcome a Monaco side harbouring hopes of a top-three finish in Ligue 1 this season and, while they sit only two points away from third-placed Lens after 11 games, Sebastien Pocognoli’s men haven’t been all that convincing to date.
The main worry for Monaco would be a lack of clean sheets. The French outfit have only managed a shutout in three of their 14 matches this term – shipping two or more on seven occasions.
More worryingly, their sole away tie in the Champions League this season was a 4-1 hammering at Club Brugge, where they were on the back foot from the first whistle and shipped 21 shots in a chastening 90 minutes.
Given Gilmt are prolific scores – particularly on their home patch – it could be a similar theme this evening and 7/4 on the hosts to score three or more feels a nice angle at a juicy price.
2pts - Arsenal to beat Slavia Prague and under 3.5 match goals - 19/20 (10Bet)
2pts - Bayern Munich to beat PSG - 13/8 (Betfair)
2pts - Bodo Glimt over 2.5 goals vs Monaco - 7/4 (Sky Bet)
0.5pt - 12.66/1 treble (Sky Bet)
Total staked - 6.5pts
