After the Premier League title race took centre stage on Sunday, attentions now turn back to the battle for survival as struggling West Ham look to put further daylight between themselves and the bottom three when they visit London rivals Crystal Palace.
Odds Now's football tipster Terry Foord is on hand to preview a crucial contest and offer up his best betting angles.
Crystal Palace come into this match in strong overall form, balancing their Premier League campaign with an impressive run in the Europa Conference League.
They secured a 4-2 aggregate win over Fiorentina to reach the semi-finals, continuing a European journey that could yet define their season. That success has also translated domestically, with a solid 2-1 win over Newcastle showing they are capable of competing on multiple fronts.
Oliver Glasner’s side currently sit 13th in the table but have games in hand over several teams above them. If they can capitalise on those fixtures, a top eight finish is not out of the question.
There is also the very real possibility of securing Europa League football by winning the Conference League, which could influence how they approach these remaining league matches.
For West Ham, the situation is far more urgent.
Sitting 17th and just one point above Tottenham, every fixture now carries huge significance. A win here would move them four points clear with five games remaining – a gap that could prove decisive in the relegation battle. Anything less, and the pressure ramps up considerably, especially with rivals picking up points elsewhere.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side do, however, come into this game with some momentum. Their 4-0 win over Wolves last time out was arguably their most complete performance of the season, combining attacking sharpness with defensive solidity after a slightly nervy start. It was the type of display that suggests they can step up when required.
Away form has also improved at the right time. West Ham have won three of their last six on the road, putting them alongside some of the league’s stronger sides in that period. That will give them confidence heading into a difficult environment like Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace have had the better of recent meetings between these two sides.
West Ham have managed just one win in the last seven encounters, although that victory did come at Selhurst Park in 2024.
Historically, this fixture tends to produce goals, particularly when played in South London. Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of the last six meetings at Selhurst Park, while both teams have scored in eight of the last ten overall. That trend suggests we should expect an open contest once again on Monday evening.
This has the feel of an open game. Palace are in good attacking rhythm, while West Ham – with so much on the line – will simply have to go for it.
Both teams to score stands out straight away and combining it with a West Ham win offers a strong price given the context of the relegation battle and the fact Palace may have one eye on an upcoming European semi-final.
For Bet Builder backers, the focus should remain on an open contest. Goals, shots on target and goalkeeper involvement all look likely, especially with both sides capable of creating chances but also giving them up.
It promises to be an entertaining, and hopefully profitable, Monday night watch.
