Football betting tips: Eight non-league punts for Saturday

Football tipster Matthew O’Regan marks your card for the football betting weekend with a whopping eight selections from Saturday’s National League slate.

National League Best Bets – Saturday, September 13th 2025

1pt - Yeovil vs Woking – Woking + 0.5 – 0.76/1

Saturday’s early kick-off comes from the West Country as Woking visit managerless Yeovil at Huish Park.

Mark Cooper, who guided Yeovil to the National League South title, was never truly popular amongst supporters and has now been dismissed after a poor start.

The Glovers sit 18th with just two wins – narrow victories over Brackley and Solihull Moors – and their struggles stretch back to the end of last season when they failed to win any of their final four games.

Woking have endured a mixed opening. Neal Ardley’s side lost their first four matches, including a 1-2 home defeat to Wealdstone, but since then they’ve looked far more assured.

Draws against York and Halifax steadied the ship, while victories at Morecambe and a thumping 5-0 against Gateshead highlighted their quality. Having lost only three times in 23 games under Ardley last season, the Cardinals are beginning to click again and look well placed to extend their unbeaten run. With Yeovil in transition, Woking should avoid defeat.

1pt - Boreham Wood vs Altrincham – Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals – 1.05/1

Boreham Wood have also raised eyebrows. Seen by many as a low-margin, limited side likely to struggle after promotion, they’ve proven hard to beat and currently sit fifth.

Since an opening-day defeat to Rochdale, Luke Garrard’s team have drawn 3-3 at Carlisle, edged Sutton 4-3, and generally offered far more in attack than expected. They’ve scored at least twice in five of seven games, with over 2.5 goals landing in the same number.

Altrincham lost Regan Linney and Alex Newby in the summer but remain in playoff contention with 12 points from eight games. Five of their matches have cleared 2.5 goals, while the only time they failed to score was against Hartlepool’s watertight defence.

Their open approach, combined with Boreham Wood’s attacking improvement, points to another high-scoring contest with both sides contributing.

1.5pts - Braintree vs York – York Win and Over 1 goal – 0.90/1

York began slowly by their standards, opening with three draws and a win, but Stuart Maynard quickly replaced Adam Hinshelwood. The change has sparked immediate improvement.

A 1-3 win at Yeovil was followed by a commanding 4-0 over Tamworth, pushing the Minstermen into the playoff places with games in hand on their rivals.

Braintree, meanwhile, sit just above the relegation zone. Steve Pitt’s side are operating under constraints, and survival is the only realistic goal. They’ve earned creditable results at home, beating Halifax and Yeovil and holding Forest Green, but their 1-2 defeat to Tamworth exposed vulnerabilities.

Having conceded at least two goals in five of eight matches, they face a stern test against one of the division’s sharpest attacks.

1.5pts - Carlisle vs Aldershot – Carlisle win and over 1 goal – 0.72/1

Carlisle, after back-to-back relegations, appear determined to bounce back quickly. Four wins from their last five have lifted them to third, with 11 goals scored in that run.

Mark Hughes’ men boast firepower in Regan Linney and Luke Armstrong, and they currently lead the league in goals. Aldershot head north with plenty of attacking threat themselves, but remain defensively fragile. Conceding at least twice in six of eight games, they look ill-equipped to contain Carlisle.

1pt - Hartlepool vs Brackley – Hartlepool win – 0.95/1

1pt - Hartlepool vs Brackley – Under 2.5 goals – 0.85/1

Hartlepool under Simon Grayson are exactly what you would expect – structured, pragmatic, and effective. Sixth in the table, they’ve scored just nine goals but conceded only three in eight games.

Seven of those have gone under 2.5 goals, the exception being a 3-0 win over Woking. Brackley, averaging 2.3 goals per game overall, also leans towards tight affairs, with four of seven matches going under. On the road, they’ve taken just two points, suggesting Hartlepool can edge another low-scoring contest.

1pt - Solihull Moors vs Morecambe- Solihull Moors Win and Over 1 goal – 0.83/1

Solihull Moors finally found their first win of the season with a 1-2 victory at Boston, a result that coincided with the departure of manager Matt Taylor. Their summer recruitment looked smart on paper and, freed from a poor managerial fit, they should now improve.

Morecambe, however, remain in chaos despite calmer ownership off the field. Derek Adams was controversially replaced by rookie Ashvir Singh Johal, who faces the near-impossible task of keeping the Shrimps afloat with a rebuilt squad.

An opening win against Altrincham briefly lifted spirits, but four defeats since – including heavy losses to Aldershot and Boreham Wood – underline how far they’ve fallen. Against a Moors side ready to climb, Morecambe could be in for more pain.

1.5pts - Truro vs Rochdale – Rochdale Double Chance and O1 Goal – 0.80/1

Truro are in uncharted territory after winning promotion last year, and the step up has been brutal. They lost their first five games, conceding freely and scoring just once, before a 3-0 win against Boston brought relief. But defensive frailties remain: six of their eight matches have seen them concede at least twice.

Rochdale, by contrast, are thriving under Jimmy McNulty. Sitting just two points off leaders Forest Green with a game in hand, Dale have scored in every match and hit two or more in six of eight. One of their blanks came when McNulty heavily rotated at Brackley. With form and quality on their side, Rochdale should prove too strong for Truro.
