Manchester United vs Liverpool: Betting Odds & Prediction

Manchester United and Liverpool are set to face off in the weekend's standout FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday afternoon.

The tie sees English football's two most successful sides lock horns and battle for a place at Wembley in April’s FA Cup semi-finals. Kick-off is set for 3:30pm UK time at Old Trafford.

Recent Form

Manchester United

Erik Ten Hag's side have endured mixed form on home soil this season. They've averaged 1.79 points per home game in the Premier League so far (W8, D1, L5). They've won three of their last five at Old Trafford, most recently beating Everton 2-0 last weekend.

United have found the net regularly in front of their home fans, scoring 21 goals in the league at an average of 1.5 per game. Their defensive troubles have cost them though, having conceded 20 league goals so far at home, with an average of 1.43 per match.

The Red Devils also boast an expected goal (xG) tally of 1.7 at home but at the same time average an expected goal against (xGA) of 1.48. They've also kept clean sheets in 29% of matches at home, and have conceded over 1.5 goals in 50% of league matches at Old Trafford so far.

United's home games have averaged a total of 2.93 goals per game.

Liverpool

Title-chasing Liverpool head into the fixture in rich goal-scoring form, having netted 12 goals in their last three games in all competitions. The Reds most recently ousted Sparta Prague with a 6-1 home victory in the Europa League mid-week.

Jurgen Klopp's side have enjoyed their time on the road so far, averaging two points per game in the league (W8, D4, L2) and scoring 27 goals in the process. They've only conceded 14 goals during that time.

Winning 57% of away games in the Premier League, the Reds have also scored in every away game whilst keeping a clean sheet in 29%. Liverpool have scored over 1.5 goals in 56% of matches on the road.

Prediction

Heated rivalries like this one are always difficult to predict, regardless of form. Liverpool are no doubt enjoying the better season of the two and are also in better form their North-West counterparts. A loss in this game would practically be the end of United's season though, with a lot riding on the match for the home side and their manager Ten Hag.

United haven't shown enough to warrant a pick on the moneyline but with nothing to lose, expect them o lock horns with a dangerous Liverpool side in a high-scoring encounter. Both teams have also averaged 12.29 corners per match in the league, with plenty of set-piece action anticipated this weekend.

OddsNow's Picks: Over 3.5 goals scored (6/4 @ UniBET); Over 12.5 corners (8/5 @ PaddyPower)
