Football tipster Matthew O'Regan returns with the latest edition of his prop bets column, sounding out eight fancies for the upcoming Premier League weekend.
1pt - Igor Thiago 2+ fouls and Yegor Yarmolyuk 1+ fouls – 9/10 - Bet365
Saturday’s early kick-off comes from West London, where Brentford host Manchester United.
The Bees took something of a gamble when appointing Keith Andrews to replace Thomas Frank, with the Irishman placing greater emphasis on set pieces and physicality.
Igor Thiago is the embodiment of that approach – a powerful centre-forward who has averaged 3.30 fouls per 90 minutes this season, committing at least two in each of his six appearances.
In midfield, Yegor Yarmolyuk has become a mainstay, missing just 11 league minutes all season. The Ukrainian brings energy and bite, averaging 1.85 fouls per 90, and has committed at least one foul in all five of his outings.
1pt - Andrey Santos 1+ foul and Yasin Ayari 1+ shot – 6/4 – Bet365
If I knew Joel Veltman was starting, I’d be all over his direct opponent racking up fouls. But with uncertainty over Brighton’s right-back and Chelsea’s left-wing starter, that angle feels risky.
Instead, my Bet Builder focuses on two young midfielders. With Chelsea’s injury crisis, Enzo Fernández could be pushed into the No.10 role to cover for the absent Cole Palmer, leaving Andrey Santos as a likely partner for Moisés Caicedo in the pivot.
The Brazilian has racked up 270 minutes since the Club World Cup and is averaging two fouls per game. Brighton have drawn 17 fouls from central midfielders in their last five league games.
On the other side, Yasin Ayari has cemented his place in Brighton’s midfield. The Swede is tidy in possession and picks up clever spaces, though he can be hesitant to pull the trigger.
Against Everton he managed four shots, drew a blank against Bournemouth, but was heavily involved versus Spurs – scoring from distance and firing off five efforts. He also bagged a brace against Barnsley and netted off the bench in that rout.
1.5pts - Ryan Gravenberch 1+ tackle and 1+ foul – 43/50 - Bet365
Amid all the noise around Liverpool’s attacking stars, Ryan Gravenberch has quietly been the reliable glue in midfield.
The Dutchman brings bite as well as balance, registering at least one tackle in all five of his recent games. That trend is well supported by the opposition too – 15 of the last 18 central midfielders have managed a tackle against Crystal Palace.
Gravenberch also offers threat going forward. His goal in the Merseyside derby highlighted his ability to drive into attacking positions, and he’s registered a shot in four of his last five outings, with only Atlético Madrid in the Champions League keeping him quiet.
2pts - Anton Stach 2+ tackles, 1+ shot – 43/50 - Bet365
0.5pts - Anton Stach 2+ shots, 2+ fouls, 2+ tackles – 9/2 - Bet365
1.25pts - Antoine Semenyo 2+ fouls – 4/5 – bet365
If at first you don’t succeed – try again. I am not giving up on this Anton Stach angle after failing last week. The big German scored with his only shot, made three tackles but failed to make any fouls.
Therefore, for the base I am sticking with what won last week. Stach has hit 2+ tackles in 4/5, 2+ shots in 3/5 (1+ in 4/5) and 2+ fouls in 3/5 outings.
Bournemouth opposition centre midfielders average seven tackles per game and four fouls per game, so Stach could be in for a busy afternoon.
There is no need to overcomplicate the other angle, either. Antoine Semenyo loves to get stuck in, making at least two fouls in seven of his last eight starts.
1.5pt - Igor Jesus 1 foul – 3/4 – Bet365
0.5pts - Igor Jesus 2 fouls – 10/3 – Bet365
Igor Jesus was handed a Europa League start against Real Betis in midweek and repaid Ange Postecoglou’s faith with a brace. The Brazilian worked tirelessly off the ball too, committing two fouls and picking up a booking before being subbed in the 64th minute.
Since joining, he’s shown a consistent tendency to foul—racking up four in just 155 minutes of action. That matches up well against Sunderland, whose centre-backs have been magnets for contact this season.
Strikers facing the Black Cats have committed 5, 3, 2, 4, 2 and 1 fouls across their league games so far.
1pt - Igor Thiago 2+ fouls and Yegor Yarmolyuk 1+ fouls – 9/10 - Bet365
1pt - Andrey Santos 1+ foul and Yasin Ayari 1+ shot – 6/4 – Bet365
1.5pts - Ryan Gravenberch 1+ tackle and 1+ foul – 43/50 - Bet365
2pts - Anton Stach 2+ tackles, 1+ shot – 43/50 - Bet365
0.5pts - Anton Stach 2+ shots, 2+ fouls, 2+ tackles – 9/2 - Bet365
1.25pts - Antoine Semenyo 2+ fouls – 4/5 – bet365
1.5pt - Igor Jesus 1 foul – 3/4 – Bet365
0.5pts - Igor Jesus 2 fouls – 10/3 – Bet365
Total staked - 9.25pts
