The new English Football League season kicked off last weekend – and with it came the return of Odds Now's popular EFL Betting Show.

All 72 EFL clubs began their league campaigns across the opening weekend, with a packed slate of Championship, League One and League Two action for punters to get stuck into.

And the action quickly rolls on this weekend with Matchday Two, meaning the lads are once again back to offer up their best betting tips and insight.

In the hosting chairs this season are Matt Hill and Felix Morson-Pate, who Odds Now viewers will have seen plenty of during our extensive coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Each weekend, Matt and Felix will delve into the EFL coupon and pick out their three strongest betting selections – a NAP, Next Best and Longshot – alongside plenty of analysis and discussion from across all three divisions.

And the lads have pulled no punches with their predictions for Matchday Two!

2026/27 EFL Betting Show – Saturday August 22nd tips

Matt's strongest fancy comes in the Championship, where he is confidently backing both teams to score when Preston host well-fancied Wolves at Deepdale.

Felix heads to the basement tier for his best bet, where he is very strong on Fleetwood to beat a Gillingham side who looked all at sea on opening day when beaten 3-0 at home.

Matt’s next best bet comes from League One, where he continues to make the case for Blackpool outrunning their odds this term. He already put them up as 40/1 each-way runners for the third-tier title on our ante post betting show and is getting with them again this weekend, taking 11/8 double chance on them away to a strong Stockport outfit.

Felix is keeping the faith with Oldham for his NB, despite hitting the bar on their game last week. This time, he’s taking them draw no bet against Colchester, who were far from impressive in their 2-2 draw with Accrington last time out.

Matt is hoping that game was also a case of Accrington impressing, as Stanley are his longshot this week. He’s taking the Lancashire outfit at 14/5 to win away at an Exeter side who made up his 5/1 best bet for relegation into the non-league on our ante post special. It’s so far, so bad for the Grecians having lost both of their games to nil in all competitions.

Felix’s longshot is from the Championship, where he’s chancing Norwich and BTTS against Millwall at 5/1. The Canaries are a hard team to judge this term but our man thinks early signs appear positive and is expecting an entertaining clash this weekend between them and the Lions.
