West Ham go in search of three all-important points on Saturday evening (5.30pm GMT kick-off) as they host Bournemouth at the London Stadium in the Premier League. This one looks set for goals, with both sides in form but neither showing an ability to keep clean sheets.
Odds Now football tipster Terry Foord looks for the best betting angles in a match that could have a huge influence on the top flight relegation battle.
West Ham will once again feel they let points slip in midweek after another late concession, this time against Manchester United. The Hammers had already suffered heartbreak by conceding in the 92nd minute against Chelsea, and on Tuesday, it happened again when Benjamin Sesko struck in the 96th to deny them an important win.
Despite that, Nuno Espírito Santo will be relatively pleased with how his side are shaping up. Wolves taking a point from Nottingham Forest kept the gap to just three points, while West Ham have now won three of their last five league games. Home form has improved too, with four points taken from the last six available at the London Stadium.
The Hammers also progressed into the FA Cup fifth round after a win over Burton over the weekend, a match that allowed Santo to rest key players such as Jarrod Bowen, which could prove important here.
Bournemouth, however, arrive in red-hot form. The Cherries sit joint-top of the form table across the last six matches, recording four wins and two draws, with no defeats. They have won their last two away games and are unbeaten in four on the road, pushing themselves up to ninth in the table and level on points with eighth-placed Everton. A European push is now a realistic possibility.
Andoni Iraola continues to get more out of this squad than many thought possible. Despite losing his entire backline in recent seasons and now being without star man Antoine Semenyo, Bournemouth are enjoying their strongest run of the campaign and remain difficult to beat.
West Ham hold the historical edge in this fixture, remaining unbeaten in the last ten meetings in all competitions and in nine of the last ten Premier League clashes. However, outright wins have been hard to come by.
The last five league meetings between these two have all finished level, and every one of those was a score draw, underlining just how closely matched they tend to be.
Everything points towards goals. The last five head-to-head meetings have all seen both teams score, and neither side looks capable of shutting the opposition out. West Ham have not kept a clean sheet at home all season, while Bournemouth have managed just two away shutouts — against bottom-placed Wolves and a struggling Tottenham side.
Both teams are also heavily involved in high-scoring matches, with seven of the last ten games for each finishing over 2.5 goals. Combining both teams to score with over 2.5 goals lifts the price from 1.50 to 1.75, which represents better value.
In the bet builder, Crysencio Summerville appeals for a shot on target. He is West Ham’s most dangerous player right now and came off the bench to score in the FA Cup at the weekend. He has also recorded a shot on target in each of his last five appearances. I will also add both teams to have at least five shots on target in what should be a wide-open contest.
2pts – Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals – 3/4 (Bet365)
1pt – Both teams to score, Crysencio Summerville 1+ shot on target & both teams 5+ shots on target – 6/1 (Bet365)
