Arsenal's Premier League title odds hit after Wolves comeback

The Premier League outright betting market has seen an overnight shake-up after title favourites Arsenal drifted from 4/11 to 4/6 with William Hill following their shock 2-2 draw with bottom-placed club Wolves on Wednesday night.

In what many fans felt was a done and dusted three points in the bag for the Gunners before kick-off, it was soon clear that the unpredictable nature of the top flight of English football was going to throw a spanner in the works of this season's title race.

A goal each from Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie gave the away side a 2-0 lead after 56 minutes. However, Rob Edwards' hosts clearly hadn't read the script.

Wolves proceded to grab a goal back in the 61st-minute through Hugo Bueno, before pandemonium ensued when Tom Edozie's effort on goal deflected in off Riccardo Calafiori in the 94th minute to rescue a draw for the home team.

Arteta's 'bottlejobs' slipping again

It was a game that had seemed like a fantastic opportunity for Mikel Arteta's men to pick up a win and extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

However, surrendering a two-goal lead against a team that appear consigned to relegation to the Championship this season saw the North London side now restricted to just a five-point cushion, with Pep Guardiola's side also possessing a game in hand and the two still having to face-off.

It's now just two wins from the last seven league games for the Gunners, with those two victories coming against two of the three teams that were promoted from the second tier last season.

It's a drop-off in form that has the club's fans fearing that their team are bottling the title race yet again and are set for another second placed finish under Arteta.

City lurking in the shadows

Manchester City are a team that just simply won't go away for Arsenal.

The Citizens are now within touching distance of Declan Rice and co and the two teams face each other in what looks a potential title decider at the Etihad Stadium on 18th April.

It's quite ominous for Arsenal that City are also looking back to their best.

Guardiola's side have now lost just one of their last 14 league matches and have won three of their last four league games, scoring at least two goals in each of those encounters. The duo of Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo showing exactly why City paid big money to bring them in by scoring when it matters.

City are now pitched at a best price of 13/8 with AK Bets to win the title this season. It's a lot shorter than the 6/1 they were being offered at by most bookmakers before Christmas.

Other contenders out of the reckoning?

Meanwhile, the focus may well be on Arsenal and Manchester City to see who wins the Premier League title, but Aston Villa are only three points behind City in third place with the same number of league games played.

Unai Emery's men have earned plaudits for the way they have conducted themselves this season. The 1-0 home win against Brighton in their last league game was a welcome return to winning ways after winning just one of their previous 5 league games.

Villa are listed at 66/1 with Bet365 to win the title. However, they have already beaten Arsenal once this season and they go to City on the final weekend of the campaign. Is it too early to write them off?

The major outside runners for winning this season's title include Manchester United at 77/1 with Betfair, Chelsea at 300/1 with SpreadEx, and Liverpool at 500/1 with Sporting Index.

If one of that trio were to come out on top, it would arguably rank as the biggest comeback in a Premier League title race ever.
