West Ham vs Newcastle Betting Tips | Premier League Match Preview

West Ham take on Newcastle in a 2 pm GMT kick-off on Sunday afternoon at the London Stadium in the Premier League.

The Hammers find themselves slipping into the “worrying” category after a poor run of results, while the Magpies will be eager to climb back into the top half and build some momentum.

Terry Foord takes a closer look at the form, stats, and best betting angles ahead of this Premier League clash.

West Ham vs Newcastle – Stats and Analysis

West Ham sit nineteenth in the Premier League table, just two points off the bottom. After nine matches, they’ve managed only four points in what’s been a dreadful run of form. They’ll be hoping that a return to the London Stadium can spark something — and more importantly, that their defence can finally tighten up.

The stats don’t make for pleasant reading. West Ham have lost all four of their home matches this season, scoring just two goals and conceding twelve. To underline the scale of their struggles, they’ve won only twice in 2025 and haven’t tasted victory at the London Stadium since February.

Those two wins came against Fulham and relegated Leicester City — proof of the task facing Nuno Espírito Santo as he tries to steady the ship.

Newcastle, by contrast, come into this one with renewed confidence after a comfortable 2–0 EFL Cup win over Tottenham — their third home victory in a row. That result also booked them a winnable quarter-final tie against Fulham in December.

Home form has been a strength for Eddie Howe’s side this season, with three wins from five, their only defeats coming against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It’s a different story away from St James’ Park, though. Newcastle are winless on the road after four league trips, scoring just once in that time. Defensively, they’ve been solid, conceding only twice, but they’ll need to find more cutting-edge away from home if they’re to mount a serious challenge for Champions League qualification again this season.

Head-to-Head

Newcastle have the upper hand in recent meetings with West Ham, winning five of the last ten encounters. The Hammers have managed two victories in that time, with three matches ending in draws.

There’s usually a healthy dose of goals when these two meet. Although the last two fixtures have been quieter, both teams have scored in seven of the previous nine clashes, while over 2.5 goals have landed in five of the last ten. The trends point towards another open and attacking contest.

West Ham vs Newcastle betting analysis

The smart play here looks to be Newcastle. I’ve watched plenty of West Ham lately, and they simply allow too many chances. Over their last four matches, they’ve faced an average of 16.75 shots per game and 5.25 on target — numbers that make it very hard to pick up points in this league.

Their defending at set pieces has been a particular problem, and that’s an area where Newcastle can capitalise. Nick Woltemade looks like a solid anytime scorer bet — he’s been a real presence in the air and has found the net four times in six appearances this season. With the service he’ll get from wide areas, he’s the player most likely to punish West Ham’s defensive frailties.
