Now, let's get into the good stuff!
GS: Bromley to win at managerless Fleetwood at 11/10. Five points clear at the top of the league, with 13 wins in their last 16. If it were a big club in that position, they'd be about 1/2 at Highbury!
SD: Huddersfield look like a rejuvenated side under former Bristol City and Norwich gaffer Liam Manning. I'm a big fan of his, so I'm not surprised to see the Terriers now winning three league games in a row. Blackpool have lost 5 of their last 6 league matches, including losing their last three league games on the road. Question marks already need to be asked about Ian Evatt.
AD: I’m really keen on Portsmouth at the moment. I fancy them to draw no bet at Preston at 6/5 with BetMGM. Pompey have only lost one of their last nine league matches and beat West Brom 3-0 last time out, whereas Preston are winless in five. North End have lost their last three home games without scoring a goal.
FMP: I fancy 11/10 on Barcelona to win to nil vs Mallorca. Barca’s games have tended to be thrillers this season, with goals and action aplenty. However, they’ve won 4 of their last 5, 3 of those with a clean sheet, and I just think Flick is finding the right balance between attack and defence at the perfect time.
GS: Rather poke my own eyes out than take West Brom at 6/5 against a solid Stoke side. They've dropped into the bottom three with one point from six. How on earth are they almost the same price as Bromley?
SD: Lincoln City are a team I'm very wary of right now, but I think their price as 6/4 favourites away to Plymouth is dangerous. The Imps may be on a decent unbeaten run, but their away form suggests teams can cause them problems. You only need to look at how they failed to win a single away league game during October and November. The Pilgrims are also undefeated in their last 4 home league games and look like a new side since bringing in Derek Adams as Director of Football.
AD: I still can’t really have Manchester United at odds of 4/7 across the board, even if Tottenham have been really bad. United may be enjoying a bounce under Michael Carrick, but they still very nearly blew it against Fulham last week, and have more work to do to prove they can win games against teams who give them the ball. Spurs have only been beaten in two of seven away games, avoiding defeat at the likes of Man City, Brighton and Newcastle this season.
FMP: Yes, Watford are managerless, but I can’t touch Southampton at odds on, even with a half-decent home record. Their performances contain far too much variance for me to want to get involved at those sorts of prices.
GS: Stockport against Leyton Orient. The O's have scored more goals this season than two of the top six in League One, but the hosts have brought old favourites Isaac 'Tanto' Olaofe and Louie Barry back to the club to add firepower to their promotion bid.
SD: I'm going to sound obvious going for this one, but it's Manchester United versus Tottenham for me. Neither team has a tightly-knit unit at the back. The Red Devils have seen over 2.5 goals scored in 63% of their league matches, while Spurs have witnessed over 2.5 goals scored in 75% of their away league games. Throw in the fact that United have also had both teams score in 75% of their league games shows that we should expect a goal fest.
AD: I’ll go for Fleetwood v Bromley in League Two. BTTS has landed in 13 of the Cod Army’s 14 home matches have seen both teams score, an amazing record, and the visit of Bromley gives it a good chance of continuing. The visitors have netted in 10 of their last 11 away matches, scoring 19 goals on that run. Both teams to score is 8/11 with Ladbrokes, and you can chuck over 2.5 goals into make it 6/5 with Bet365.
FMP: I like plenty of action at Stockport on Saturday as they take on Leyton Orient. The home side are in decent nick, but their games tend to be very open with Stockport + BTTS always being a very live runner. O3.5 is 2/1 here.
GS: Jaze Kabia for Grimsby at Newport, 9/5 to score anytime. Andy Cook has been almost like two signings in one for the Mariners; he's contributed significantly from the bench, and he's pushed Kabia to rediscover his early-season form.
SD: Sticking with the Manchester United vs Tottenham theme, I'm opting for Matheus Cunha to score anytime at 6/5 with Bet365. The Brazilian is 5/1 to score first if you're feeling even more courageous. The former Wolves man has scored in his last two league games, and I expect him to be buzzing for this one against a demoralised Spurs defence.
AD: It may be fairly short, but I’ll take Zan Vipotnik to score for Swansea at home to Sheffield Wednesday at 13/10 with Unibet. The Owls are dead and buried, and Zipotnik is the Swans’ biggest threat in a game they should win comfortably.
FMP: I like Rafa Mir at 12/5 for Elche vs Sociedad. He is their main danger man and is usually good value for finding the target at least once per game. They face a tough task here, but given the propensity of BTTS in Sociedad matches this season, I’m willing to take the chance.
GS: Arsenal. Manchester City. Aston Villa. Chelsea.
SD: It's fair to say that Arsenal and Manchester City look like shoo-ins for the top four. I'm sceptical about Aston Villa lasting the distance, as the UEFA Europa League will undoubtedly take their attention. I would be tempted to back Liverpool and Manchester United to take the two other spots. I think Chelsea will just miss out under Liam Rosenior as he gets to grips with his squad.
AD: Arsenal and Manchester City comfortably – and then it gets interesting. I expect Aston Villa to hang on, partly because of the inconsistency of other teams, and I’ll say Liverpool will snatch fourth as it becomes their only focus towards the end of the season.
FMP: Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are locks for me. The last spot is tough, but I think I will go for Chelsea to pip Villa late on as Emery’s men focus on the Europa League crown.
