EXCLUSIVE: Owen gives verdict on Arsenal's trophy prospects

Ex-Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has spoken about his thoughts on Arsenal's trophy credentials after their disappointing 2-0 loss to rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final.

Gunners still "comfortably the best"

Speaking exclusively to Odds Now, Owen – who is the official UK ambassador for Casino.org, a trusted comparison website highlighting the best online casinos for UK players - said, "Arsenal have been comfortably the best team in the Premier League this year, and I think they will win the Premier League title.

"They have, on paper, the easiest run-in of the two teams, and this result should actually serve to motivate them to get over the line.

"Man City have to be faultless in their Premier League games to come and also beat the Gunners at home. Naturally, the first games back after the international break are the most crucial. If there is to be a swing, you'd think City would have to beat Chelsea, and then Arsenal slip up at home to Bournemouth.

"It feels unlikely. Arsenal have the squad strength and set of fixtures to be able to win the title this year."

Can Arteta's side do the double?

Owen was also keen to emphasise that Mikel Arteta's side are capable of winning more than one trophy this season.

The 46-year-old ex-England international tipped Arsenal to go on to win the FA Cup as well as lift the Premier League trophy.

Owen stated, "I am pleased City won the Carabao Cup, as if Arsenal had gone on to win the quadruple, I would have been disappointed. I don’t think they have been as good a team as Man Utd or Man City treble-winning sides.

"But, I do think Arsenal should win the Premier League, and they can definitely pair that with the FA Cup. They do have a favourable draw in the Champions League to get to the semi-final, and you never know what could happen beyond that.

"They have to learn from this defeat against City, though. There'll be big tests at the back end of the Champions League for them. So multiple trophies, yes, but there's a lot of work still to do."

Bookies back Arsenal for success

The UK bookmakers appear to support Owen's views that Arsenal can still enjoy a successful campaign by lifting at least one trophy this season.

AK Bets are offering the best price of 1/9 on the Gunners winning the Premier League this season. In contrast, Manchester City are listed next in the market at 7/1 with various bookies.

Arsenal are 2/1 favourites to win the FA Cup with BetVictor. The North Londoners face Championship side Southampton at home in the Quarter-Finals.

Declan Rice and co are also 13/5 favourites with AK Bets to win the Champions League, ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich at 16/5, Barcelona at 5/1, PSG at 6/1, and Real Madrid at 17/2.

Arsenal sealing a Premier League and FA Cup double is available at 15/8 with Bet365. The same bookmaker is offering 12/5 on a Premier League and Champions League double, 7/1 on an FA Cup and Champions League double, and 8/1 on a treble of the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.

In case any Tottenham fans are reading this and interested in backing an Arsenal capitulation this season, Bet365 are offering 10/1 on Arteta's side not winning a single trophy this season.
