Grealish eyes Everton move to aid World Cup dream

Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish is a best-price 2/5 to complete a move to Everton as the midfielder bids to boost his hopes of a spot in England's 2026 World Cup squad.

Former Aston Villa ace Grealish has been on the fringes of Pep Guardiola's squad for the last two seasons, having headed to the Etihad in the summer of 2021 for a £100million fee.

Although the popular maverick has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with the Citizens, winning nine major honours, an exit looks increasingly likely – particularly having made just seven starts in the Premier League last term.

Grealish is said to be desperate to get back into the England picture ahead of the 2026 World Cup and Everton appear to be the club leading the race for his signature.

Loan deal looks likely

David Ornstein from The Athletic claims that the Toffees are exploring a season-long loan for the 29-year-old, seen as their only viable route of completing a deal due to his sizeable wages.

And though the process of reaching an agreement is said to be 'complex', it is thought to be a move that appeals to Grealish with regular game time his most desired outcome.

BetVictor go 2/5 about the transfer going ahead, suggesting over a 70% chance, with David Moyes keen to add some star quality to a squad who concluded the 2024-25 campaign well to finish 13th.

Grealish 4/1 to make England World Cup squad

Grealish is currently 4/1 with Bet365 to make Thomas Tuchel's squad next summer but those odds could drop significantly if he can rediscover the form which saw him considered the nation's brightest attacking spark by many a few years ago.

He has made 39 appearances for the Three Lions since his debut in September 2020, netting four goals – the most recent of which came in his last England appearance against Finland last October.

Tuchel's traditional style of play is heavily possession-focused and Grealish would not necessarily be a natural fit for the German's system.

So, a big impact on Merseyside may be exactly what is needed to force his way back into the fold.
